• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow.

Obviously, we have no way of knowing what our future will be; however, as Christians, we know the one who knows--God.

We should not worry about the future, because our times are in His hands (
Psalm 31:15). In other words,
God will give you what you need when you need it.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Jesus repeatedly tells us not to worry: "Do not worry about tomorrow" (
Matthew 6:34).

Again, Jesus emphasized that God loves and cares for us, and we therefore should not worry about our life: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (
Matthew 6:25-27).

Although you don't know what God has in store for you, be assured that He has a good plan for your life (see
Romans 8:28). Because He has such a good plan for you, there is no need to worry about life. Although you don't know what tomorrow holds, you have the opportunity to know the one who holds tomorrow!

Caitlin, thank you so much for the encouraging (and timely) post. I am going through quite a time with fear and worry. It's not a new battle, just another step in God's ongoing plan of deliverance for me. Your statement "God will give you what you need when you need it", is what He has been telling me.

dholbrook, I haven't checked on that either, but fear is such a faith stopper, a paralyzer, that I don't doubt your statement. It will be interesting and very helpful to research, because every scripture found, will be edifying. Thanks!

Caitlin, dholbrook and Evie, you are all in my prayers.

Reminds me of a story in Corrie Ten Boom's autobiography:

In The Hiding Place Corrie expresses her fear to her father and asks how she can be sure she'll have the courage to walk out her faith if they are caught. Her father says, "Corrie, when we take a train ride, when do you get the ticket to get on the train?" Corrie answered, "When the train is ready to leave." So it is with our God. We need to keep our heart's attitude right, but the ability and strength to persevere come from Him.

I so much want to believe this teaching, and I would not have had a problem with it in the past, but if I am honest, I am absolutely terrified of the future. God allowed such painful experiences in my past that I guess I just expect that more will happen. I just don't know how to stop myself fearing - I don't feel able to trust God. I so much want to though, I really do. I remember the peace I used to feel when I laid something in His hands and asked for His help, but I'm struggling to do this at the moment. I'm not trying to disagree with the teaching or anything like that, I just am finding it so hard to take in.
