I'm of the camp that homosexuality is a sin. Because of that, I'm often accused of hating homosexuals. Is that fair? There are many things many of my friends do that I consider sin. Some of my friends have pre-marital sex, some act like drunks in public, some gossip, some steal (I consider piracy stealing), some are rather irreverent toward Christ, and some aren't even Christian. And being an animal rights activist, I also don't approve of the fact that they all eat meat. So, because I think that they should change these things about them, does that mean that I hate them, that I reject them, or anything? I'd like to think not. Does loving somebody mean loving everything about them? If so, then I guess I don't really love anybody, because everybody I know does something I don't like. And that includes myself because there are still things that I struggle with.
I do know that homosexuals are rather mistreated and receive plenty of unwanted attention by Christian communities. I definitely don't approve of that, as it's clearly an attempt to make them a scapegoat so they don't have to worry about their own sins. I see it as hypocrisy that Christians stress how imperfect we are, how we are all sinners and will always be sinners, but then will bar homosexuals from being priests, pastors, etc. I do acknowledge that homosexuals receive the short end of the stick, and just because I think that homosexuality is a sin doesn't mean that I agree with how they are treated by the world.
