  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone else here?

I love the different styles from the different periods.

I look at them as history in a way.

Can you imagine all the prayers said on each of them by the different owners?

If a rosary could talk...

Anyway, the oldest I have is from the 1800's.

Anyone else collect these or am I just weird? :sorry:

Michie,,,,,,that sound like a wonderful hobbie , not weird at all.

I have a collection of  more modern rosaries, because I have them placed stragetically through the house , so whatever room I am in at the time and want to pray the rosary,,,,,there is always one right at had.

Yes, can you imagine if rosaries could talk, of all the prayers , joys ,and tribulations that have been prayed about. That is totally awesome.

Keep up the collecting   !

I collect 'em. I don't have any old ones except for my dad's. My favorite one came from the University of Notre Dame. I particularly like wooden ones. My wife went to Los Angeles last month and brought me back a wooden Rosary from the new Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral. What's neat about it is where there is usually a medal of Mary, it is a picture of the newly canonized Padre Pio. On the back it says, "St. P. Pio, pray for us."

Padre Pio.

I love him.

I've got a question, I have an old medal from the Victorian era.

It has two hands clasped like in a handshake & below it, there is a picture (my Mother-in-Law) say's Jesus but it looks like Mary to me.

Does anyone know what this hand clasp is & what it symbolizes?

I've also seen it on very old grave stones.

My Mom-in-Law gave me her & her Mother's very first communion rosary.

I think I'll be putting that rosary in a nice shadowbox with first communion pictures of her & her Mother holding it.

Hi Wols!
Yes, I'm interested!

How have you been?

E-mail me sometime so we can catch up. :)

Love & Prayers,
Michie
