I was born with the Christian faith in me. When I was about 2 or 3, I became filled with the Holy Spirit. Before that time no one told me about God or Christ. I slowly began to develop a consciousness of Christ. Indeed I understood Him as a saviour who would support me in the here and now, and in the afterlife. I felt Jesus love like no love I felt before.
The Truth does set you free. I felt free from the tyrants of this world, of which my birth country was (and is still) swamped in. God bestowed me: with rights that no one can take from me, even though they can deny me them at a price they will have to pay to God; and a promise for a home, for which there is no equivalent, after death. I learned more about Christ through the Holy Spirit from small bits of information from a brother two years older than me, nature, and especially, a cross.
We had only one church in my birth town. On Sundays it overflowed with people onto the streets. It was practically impossible for children to attend church services. The atmosphere was astonishing with smartly and respectably dressed women and men. An air of hope and optimism penetrated the town during church services. Unfortunately, it must have been very stressful for the attendees due to the overcrowding.
I make it a point to be truthful, so I will reveal the unpleasant reality. My birth town is a beautiful ancient town (one where a Biblical prophet is said to have lived) in an ancient country. It was Christian, melded and shaped by Christians for almost 2000 years. During the last half century, solely because of their faith, most of the Christians in the town have either been killed or fled, and some have been driven out. Only a few Christians are left there today.
I had faced death three times under 8 years old, and each time I needed a miracle to survive. Each time Christ granted me a miracle. I have much reason to be thankful to Jesus. I have no questions about the miracles granted through faith in Christ. For my love for Him is great. Those miracles were few in many many miracles and deeds that He gave me throughout my life. Im always grateful and joyous for them, but miracles no longer surprise me.
Believe it or not, I did not read the gospel until I was 15 years old. It was everything I expected and then some. It was truth, right there in black and white; given, there was certain things hard to accept, like the part where He says He came to divide family members (which now I understand why.) Indeed I used Jesus teachings in the gospel to direct my life: reconcile with my brother, give up my long to-do revenge list, avert physical confrontations, stop gambling, stop seeing the opposite sex in lust, avoid pre-marital sex, respect and give my parents what they are due, avoid drugs, restrain my temper, stop being racist, and much much more. This is on top of the things I did from knowing Jesus by heart and hearing priests. I AM A SINFUL MAN!
Jesus shaped my identity. I feel comfort in knowing the Truth. Nobody and nothing else can serve as a substitute. I can sit here and factually tell you Jesus saved my life!
We truly become brothers and sisters when we embrace Christ. When, in one part of the world, we achieve greatness, we share it with our brothers and sisters in the rest of the world. Look at the Christians vs. others in Western Europe and South Africa, North America and South America, Lebanon and Indonesia, Armenia and Philippines, India and China, Russia and Central Africa, North Africa and the Middle East, Australia and East Europe, South Korea and UK, the poor and the rich, the slave and the free, the black and the white, the starved and the fed. If you look at each instance, you would see that our Christian brethren prospered until when some unchristian evil force swept in to destroy them.
I dont believe in universalism: every religion worships the same god, has the same intentions, and should be given the same treatment. I dont believe Allah wants the same things as God. I dont believe the god of Hindus is the same as God. I dont believe Buddha is the same as Jesus. And I certainly dont believe everyone will get into heaven. To put this in perspective: I doubt we would be much more than animals to each other if we did not demand our God (GOD GOD GOD) given rights.
The greatest threat to Christianity today is the heresy being taught in our education systems that every being declared as a god is God. I admit I was deceived myself, but not anymore though. This heresy, in my view, is the biggest insult God is facing today, and many of us Christians, are contributors.
Your entrance into heaven is determined by Jesus. It is not my view that you have to be a Christian to enter heaven, but I think it helps tremendously. However, if you leave your Christian faith for another faith, then your chances are hurt tremendously: "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:33
This is my witness of Jesus Christ.
