• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

you women also have a "Married Women Personal Topics" subforum - just like we have one for guys (and you can't see the one for men just like we can't see the one for women) - right?

Is it as inactive as the men's one? The last post in the men's subforum is well over a year ago.

I am a male, married, but I can’t see that particular subforum for men. Perhaps that is why it is so inactive. Can you provide a link?

You need to start a ticket and ask the admins for access.

Yes, there's a forum for us too. I do think the fact that many people don't know that it's there, and that they can ask for access, probably contributes to the low traffic level. (Our last post was back in April, so doing a bit better than you guys, I guess!)

How would someone even find out that it exists to open a ticket to ask for access? I don’t even see any headline for such a forum. (More curiosity on my part than a need for access, I guess).

Really? You need to ask for access?

I don't remember ever asking for access - but then again I've been here a long time. Maybe there was a time when it didn't require that, and I was grandfathered in?

Hmmm

There are references to it here and there - in the SOP for this forum, for example - but I agree, we probably don't make it prominent enough.
Thanks.

The first rule of Married Women/Men’s Personal Topic Subforum is: you do not talk about Married Women/Men’s Personal Topic Subforum . The second rule of Married Women/Men’s Personal Topic Subforum is you DO NOT talk about Married Women/Men’s Personal Topic Subforum!

I think at some point when things transitioned from forum version to forum version, people's genders got lost. Or maybe you didn't have to specify a gender if you were an OG, but then you needed a gender specified to get into those forums? Something like that. So some people need to request access.

If my feeble brain remembers right, us old timers who had posted at least once in our gender’s forums (married women’s personal and general women's forums), we didn’t need to ask to get in. But the ladies forum is ever-so-slightly more active than the men’s forum. But our topics aren’t as... Um... “Same song, different singer” as yours.

This reminds me of an old story my mom told. She worked for the federal government. They had installed a new robotic mail cart that would follow a chemical line around the building so that people could set things on it and not have to go to the mail box.

Every once in a while they would have to re-apply the chemical line. But they were worried people would step on it and damage it, causing the robot to go in the wrong direction.

So they put up a sign that said "Don't step on the invisible line"!

As you can imagine, that certainly clarified it for everyone.

There appears to have been some significant changes over the last couple of years here - one of them being the 'visibility' of the private forum as we're discussing. I haven't been as active of late as I was perhaps three or four years ago ("ImaginaryDay" in a previous life) and that's been part of the reason. I had to place a request to change my denomination, rather than being able to do so from my account page, which seems really strange. Other small things like that just seem 'off'.
Anyway, just my two cents. It may well have been my old thread that had activity last ^_^

In earlier times when we could change our "religious affiliation" ourselves, one member changed his every week. That may be the reason why we can't do it now.

Yes, I recall that happening. And that involves entrance into the denominational safe havens, etc.

When I joined, I was pm'd about the Women's Only forum and invited to ask to join. So I did. If the mods don't pm new members anymore, perhaps they don't request to join.

Also, it seems there are more women commenting on the marriage/parenting forums period. So it may just be a smaller pool to begin with.

Yep, even to peek in the men's forum! :holy:
Hope you enjoyed the view! Lol!

Usedta happen a lot in a previous forum site I was on. We would be talking about the most private stuff going, and I would notice several women listed as viewing the thread.

I often  and greeted them by name. Hilarious!
