  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The CC forum is barely a couple of months old. Now, while I believe in some spots we're taking things a bit too seriously, and progressing needlessly quick ... that we all need to be around to help ease the growing pains.

Your decision to go, but I respect you and your opinions and will be sorry to see you go.

In light of recent weeks of this Foru.ms' controversies gave me rude awakening, especially from some fellow conservatives. I was getting too restricted to various "agendas" and forgetting God's main purpose. J. I. Packer has warned us that in the “Battle for the Bible”—the danger operates, that the folk engaged in the battle will just concentrate on the battle and never think of the issues for the sake of which the battle is being fought.

I love being conservative and still a conservative. I am more of a "theological conservative". I want to stay away from politically conservative. Learning from this Foru.ms' political issues has got me thinking that such politics and controversies have brought in the darkness that people cannot see the light.

Jesus said "My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence" (John 18:36). Christ have not given us a political agenda, but a spiritual mandate to proclaim the Gospel and disciple the nations (Matthew 28:19-20).

Ok... I'm not sure why that would mean leaving CC, though.

But you have to do what you feel led to do, so God bless you very much. Hope to see you around still :)

I can see your point - is very easy to get caught up in 'issues' and not concentrate on Jesus.
But - I honestly haven't seen much 'politics' here. Then again - have been away a lot. Because i am not very politically conservative - but don't think that is an issue with anyone here.

Anyway - you must do what is right for you.
God bless you very much brother - you have been a blessing to me!

Sorry to see you go Jim.

I was involved in one thread w/ you regarding the changes here w/ Erwin - so I don't know if you feel I was a part of the issue you're talking about.
If not then please disregard the explanation -

I stated my reasons for being upset with Erwin's changes having to do w/ the removal of the creed as it was prior to 7-7-7.
What was happening was, instead of you seeing what my (and quite a few other conservatives) reasoning was, you continued posting about 'us Christians' trying to separate from the world & segregate from other christians that aren't like us.
THAT WASN'T IT at all. I let it go by a few times, but it continued into how I started to take it as, you were attacking me for not doing the Godly thing in this.

We had right to take issue with the compromises that had occurred.
Anyways, it wasn't till later that I finally spoke up as did a few others. You freely spoke your mind against our views, but it seems you refuse to hear the responses that tried to correct your misinterpretation of what we were taking issue with.

I do apologize if I offended you, it's not my motive or intent! I was careful not to be rude or mean becuz I like you - I just felt it got to the point where I finally had to tell you that my issues weren't what you were portraying about me/others.

So I hope you don't go, but I understand if you do.
Whatever happens, I wish you God's best. I think we all have the same goal -and it's for the Lord.

A legitimate Christian position with a long history which I respect. I do voter registration and I run across those who hold your position now and then. I do not try to change their minds. I wish them well because there is a place for this in the faith.

However it is not and nor has ever been the majority position. Catholics, for instance, are obligated to be involved in the public square. Catechism of the Catholic Church:
2239 It is the duty of citizens to contribute along with the civil authorities to the good of society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom. The love and service of one's country follow from the duty of gratitude and belong to the order of charity. Submission to legitimate authorities and service of the common good require citizens to fulfill their roles in the life of the political community.

There you have nearly half the Christians in the world who, based upon the Fourth Commandment, believe they must be involved politically.

As we see now a drive by secularists to drive faith out of the public square, to make a position on abortion, for instance, illegitmate merely because it arises from faith, I feel it is more important than ever for Christians not to withdraw.

Learning from this Foru.ms' political issues has got me thinking that such politics and controversies have brought in the darkness that people cannot see the light.

Obviously I do not agree. I do not believe those here engaged in political discussions or James Dobson, Chuck Colson , Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer and thousands of others (including those imprisoned overseas for their faith) have brought in darkness and I do not believe they should stop doing what they are doing. Just the opposite. They should be as vocal as they can and others should follow their lead.

Sorry to see you go Jim. I do agree and have discussed here before about political involvement - especially Dominionism which often gets Christians more focused on political change rather than spreading the Gospel and prayer, which are what Jesus did to change the world!

Hope to see you around the other forums you post at, and that you are not leaving the forum as a whole... God bless you.
