A bit off topic, I know, but I had to share this. I have been using my Palm as a supplemental Scripture reader for a couple of years now, but it just got a WHOLE lot better. I use the MyBible software, and in addition to the many different translations I can switch between, I just added the following:

Easton's Bible Dictionary
Tyndale Bible Dictionary
Tyndale Concise Bible Commentary
Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Daily Bible Reader
One Year Book of Church History
One Year Bible Companion

Now, I can open up a commentary window below the text, or use that window for another translation, and they stay synched.

Then, my cd-rom came with the full archives of Bible Review magazine.

And I also just picked up for Christmas "The Story of the New Testament" by Ben Wittington, and "The Bible As It Was" by Kugel, as well as another history of the early Church.

And I just ordered the Faith of the Early Fathers, Volume 1 (to compliment my worn edition of Goodspeed's History of Early Christian Literature).

I am like a kid in a candy store!

:) That's the way I felt when I got the Scholar's Library from Logos Bible Systems. What a great and powerful study tool! Just not quite as portable as yours... :sigh:

Oh, and if you've never read Reading the Old Testament by Lawrence Boadt (Paulist Press), you're missing out. I can't recommend it highly enough!

The one thing that is hampering about the Palm is the size of the windows when two are opened, but it is a really nice option. I can also switch full screen to the dictionaries, and all the verses are linked back to the Bible for quick back and forth. What is odd is that when I use it in church I used to feel that people may think I was checking my calendar or even playing games! But then the pastor asked which translations I had, etc, and I found out he had just gotten the same set-up.

I will DEFINITELY check out Boadt book!

Dang. The next step in your evolution is the synthesis of man and machine. You must become one w/ your palm. And then we can call you Vincebot, or MechaVince, or maybe just Vince the Cyborg. Anyhoo, I'm jealous in a totally Christian sort of way. :)

It actually is a good witnessing tool. WHen I am at the doctors office, or standing in line at the bank, etc, someone will often ask me what I am "working" on. I am MORE than pleased to tell them all about it!

The same is true with another one of my gadgets (be ready to be REALLY jealous). I have a 20GB mp3 player, upon which I have:

The FULL NIV Bible on audio.

Lecture series' on Augustine, the Early Church, The Church in the Reformation Era, Philosophy and Religion, Islam and Judaism, and others.

Some of Vernon McGee's commentaries on Scripture.

Other commentaries on the NT (all by evangelicals, since they are doing all the publishing these days).

The other day I was at the grocery store, listening as usual. The checkout clerk said "I always see you listening to that thing, what are you listening to?" Again, I was MORE than happy to tell her!

That's the way I got ahold of it. It was required reading for my dad. When I asked him if I could take it home with me he was surprised, since I think he thought it was too "liberal." :)

I wonder how it could get such widespread usage? It's not a particularly well-known publisher, in Protestant circles anyway. What seminary did you attend, HeRev?
