Hi this is my first post but I need some help
I am only 15 years old but please hear my story. I was born and raised in a christian family. My family attended a very conservative Korean Presbyterian church. Although in heart my father wasn't very conservative they attended that church because of my mother. They have been going for 15 years now ( my whole life ), and my father is an elder and my mother has a very high status as well. I knew all the answers at my church and I attended church forever. My cousin who used to live with us was changed from gangster to full-time ministry and his church was not conservative at all. It was a korean church but was non-denominational and was open about spiritual gifts such as tongue, healing, prohpecy, and the other gifts. I never really believed until last summer. I truly met Christ last summer. And I got the gift of tongue. Anyways, I continue my christian life after this new experience trying to show my church in slow and steady ways what God can really do. I realized how spiritually dead I was, and my youth group is. Everyday through slow changes whether it be prayer meetings on school nights or prayer meetings on saturday mornings before sunrise I try to do whatever I can to be an example for them so that they can see and wonder why I do the things I do. Only in Christ I do all these things. Before I was born a lady told my parents that they would have a son and that I would be stubborn at first but become a prayer warrior. I'm not sure of the details because I never found out but in my life I knew that my future was to serve God. This prophecy is never more real than it is now. I have an urge to become full-time ministry at this time. I am praying everyday to figure out what God's plan is. I want to go to full-time missionary elsewhere and serve God for the rest of my life, but I must wait for his calling. But, I want to learn more and become a better christian and in my environment I am not learning theology and stuff. I want to learn more and I had an idea. If either I could go to a seminary school while attending high school or go to a boarding school that teaches theology and different subjects such as that so I may be a step closer to serving God all the faster. Please, if you have any ideas for me or schools that I can look into please tell me. I know I am young but do not let my age fool you, I want to know more and go to missionary as fast as possible. Please help me
In Christ,
David

P.S. I had no clue where to post this so i put it here

HereAmI,

Just from my knowledge, you have to go to a 4-year college before you can go to seminary. The alternative to that is where you can go to a Bible college, which is like a seminary but offers degrees in the same category as a 4-year college would (B.A.). In order for you to go to seminary, you would need a B.A. or a B.S. in something so you could get your M.A. or M.Div. I'm probably confusing you here with all these B's and M's, basically you need to get your college degree before you get your seminary degree.

Welcome to CF!

It is wonderful to hear of your sense of call and your dedication to the Lord. I am sure that exciting things are in store for you.

I can certainly sympathize with wanting to "get on with it" and get into studies and ministry as soon as possible. I encourage you, though, not to underestimate the value of your high school experience. The grounding you get in high school in English and History and other subjects will serve as a good foundation for more advanced theological studies. Experiences with your fellow students and with your church can help you to deepen and broaden your faith -- which is, of course, a continual part of any minister's/Christian's life.

With that said, though, I encourage you to start looking into Bible Colleges for two reasons. One is that you are at the age where it is appropriate to start planning for college, and a Bible college will get you into that kind of studies very early on. The other is that some colleges have summer programs for high school students, and you may be able to find something of that sort.

Try searching the internet for different schools and find out what, if anything, they offer during the summers. Also, you may be able to find a church where you could serve as a volunteer intern and receive some mentorship from a more experienced minister.

So look around and be creative. But also remember to value where you are now, and what you are called to do now. This may be a season of preparation for you, and I encourage you to make the most of your high school experience. It will serve you well in the future.

Can you attend another church without family friction ; or attend another church on a sunday evening , in addition to what time you attend with mom and dad ?

They have been going for 15 years now ( my whole life ), and my father is an elder and my mother has a very high status as well. I knew all the answers at my church and I attended church forever.
The more you learn , the less you know ... you know all questions , typically presented -- minimum ; not all the answers ... only 1 guy knows them ^^

My cousin who used to live with us was changed from gangster to full-time ministry and his church was not conservative at all. It was a korean church but was non-denominational and was open about spiritual gifts such as tongue, healing, prohpecy, and the other gifts.
Ok , wild and crazy pentecostal type ... ok ; look at the churches in the book of revelation , chapters 2 and 3 ... where mom and dad are seems to have lost their first love.... luke warm , content .... where brother is may be like the one at Philadelphia ... letting God work within , by the power of the Holy Spirit ... different is not wrong , nor does different demean ...

I never really believed until last summer. I truly met Christ last summer. And I got the gift of tongue. Anyways, I continue my christian life after this new experience trying to show my church in slow and steady ways what God can really do. I realized how spiritually dead I was, and my youth group is.
Now .. do not get mad at them [ sticks in the mud ] , pray for them , show them by your example , words , deeds ... may have to get " jump started " just like you did , before their eyes and ears work...

Everyday through slow changes whether it be prayer meetings on school nights or prayer meetings on saturday mornings before sunrise I try to do whatever I can to be an example for them so that they can see and wonder why I do the things I do. Only in Christ I do all these things.
time is a very frustrating thing ... God's time and our impatience ... don't quit, don't force the issue ... let God work in his time and his way ... show them patience ... get in God's face about frustration ... then listen .... eat crow .. and go again - Proverbs 24.16

Before I was born a lady told my parents that they would have a son and that I would be stubborn at first but become a prayer warrior. I'm not sure of the details because I never found out but in my life I knew that my future was to serve God. This prophecy is never more real than it is now. prayer proceeds signs , wonders, miracles , breakthrough , revival ... sustains the ministers and saints ...

I want to go to full-time missionary elsewhere and serve God for the rest of my life, but I must wait for his calling. But, I want to learn more and become a better christian and in my environment I am not learning theology and stuff. I want to learn more and I had an idea.
are there some adult classes , youth ministries , outreaches that you can plug into ?

Timothy was wrestling with being a " pup " in a wolrd of gray headed men who would not listen to him . Paul said " I know your mom , your grandmother , I ordained you , go out and give the good news away , if they don't listen , you are off the hook , if they do , Praise God , rejoice , go do some more "

Check out : www.cfaith.com - Word of Faith articles , information , bible tools ; www.blueletterbible.com - online concordance ; www.gmrinc.org - correspondence bible school and links to online bible school .

Kind of a " catch-22 " , not so much where you desire to go , as much as what the ministry you seek to work with / under requires for certification .

CFAITH also offers Bible courses to its members that were developed by a charismatic Word of Faith college.

My advise would be to ask your parents it they mind you attending another church that is less traditional. Or even if you find a biblestucy home group to get involved in from a charimatic/pentacostal church that you can ask questions in and grow in.

As far as studies to take while in Highscool, I would recomend you check out this website www.DeeperRoots.com They have bible studies geared towards HS & MS ages students, that have a great emphasis on missions, are strong doctinally (weak inthe area of the HS from what I have seen) I would also recomend looking into taking a Perspectives course. It is a 12 week class on the history of world missions, if you are reallu intrested in missions it would be a good study.

This summer see if you go on a short term missions trip. but my biggest recomendation would be looking into doing a Dicipleship Training School through YWAM after HS. It is a 5-6 month school where you will have opertunity to learn more about the basics of the christian faith, with subjects such as hearing the voice of God, The Father heart of God, How to share your Faith, Prayer, worship and Spiritual warfare etc, the last 2 months you get out pf the class room and go on an overseas outreach. I think this would be a great way for you to get a solid foundation in what you beleive and why....(I grew up in church too, but this program turned my life around!!) and if your intrested in missions help you to figure out how, where, doign what.

I cant highly recomend seminary, I know more people who have lost their faith or limmited it to textbook knowledge after seminary. You could look into taking classes by correspondense while in school though...I have taken a few classes through Berean School of the Bible (assemblies of God) some were great some were boring also may be worth looking into Massters commission, that is an intense program that I also higlhy reconmend...(more along the lines of bible college then a missisons school)

So hope this helps again here are three more sights to look into

YWAM International

Masters Commission ( I beleive they happen all over in different campuses)

Berean School of the Bible
