• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi sweetie. Yes, I think all of us have gone through this. In my personal experience it was oppression to keep me away from God, as well as strongholds that were in place in my mind from the time I was a child.

One thing that is helping me is renewing my mind through the Word of God. Remember that we have fallen minds and flesh and are corruptible by what we put into our brains: what we read, listen to, see, etc. When we are renewing our minds through the Word, the Holy Spirit will change and sanctify our minds and hearts and change us into more godly people. I think you will find that this is a lifelong battle, and that the devil will always try to throw garbage at you, and sometimes that garbage is very hard to take or very hard to understand. It comes from the most evil of the evil, but you have to understand that the one in you is greater than the one that is in the world (if you have put your faith in Christ), and we can take captive these thoughts. The more time you spend in God's Word the more refreshed, at peace, and clear you will be in your mind.

Try also cutting ungodly things out of your life that may corrupt your mind. Rely on the fact that God's Word is the TRUTH, and read it believingly.

And remember, above all, that God knows you have a fallen fleshly body and you are prone to having these thoughts. Just remember, sometimes us with OCD think or dwell upon the things we fear the most, and that the perfect love of God through Jesus Christ will drive out this fear.

I have had the most disgusting, violent, sexual, blasphemous thoughts run through my mind. You name it, I've had it.

The more I have been following Jesus, the more I have been under attack and the more nightmares and ungodly thoughts doubts and fears have been thrown at me. But, the more I take my place in Christ the more peace and love I feel for God as well, and know that He is in control and is taking care of me, the more I realize the ridiculousness of those thoughts and how they aren't really from my heart but from outside myself or from a place of fear.

In Christ,

John
