  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me...Gal 2:20.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live in me, but Christ who lives in me.

It is no longer I who live in me because I have been crucified with Christ; I am now a dead man.

Since I am a dead man, I can no longer keep the Ten Commandments. Dead men cannot keep anything. The Ten Commandments is impossible for a dead man to keep.

So, where does that leave a dead man like me?

This is where:

“Christ lives in me...”

If Christ lives in me, then the question is, does the Living Christ keep the Ten Commandments in me, since I am dead and unable to keep it?

Does this question make sense to anyone?

If Christ lives in you, ask Him your question. He will answer you.

The answer is if you are dead and it is Christ that now lives in you then Christ would keep the Ten Commandments.

Hi "Dove"

I hate to tell you this, but even though I also believe an internal work of everlasting, immutable holiness has been done by God in all believers, there is a "dying daily" aspect to following Jesus that requires great determination and prayer to accomplish. As Jesus said "few there be that find it" but the rewards are extra great! Just ask Enoch and Elijah.

Don't ask Paul the Apostle because the Lord couldn't pry him away from his beloved Jewish brethren, many of whom had solemnly sworn not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. He said he was "the Apostle of the Gentiles," but don't you believe it, except that his letters have ministered powerfully to millions of Gentiles over the past 1900 years. He has been a great blessing to all Christians in spite of his own indomitable will to convert the Jews of his time. Unfortunately for him, he did NOT "die daily!"

Best Blessings,
"Arph"

Christ lives in you and draws you to himself.

He doesn't control you.

Let's start by saying that you are not a dead but that you are alive in Christ, at least hopefully.
What we are is dead to sin, "if" we truely live by faith.
Romans 6:
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,
This is where:

“Christ lives in me...”

Jesus did the hard work for us. He lived the perfect life and fulfilled the Law. We are not required to fulfill the Law and live, so we should not try to make ourselves worthy by doing what the decalogue says.

Jesus gave us a new Command though.

Joh 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
When we truely love others as Jesus called us to do, we fulfill the Law.

Romans 13:
8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled {the} law. 9 For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of {the} law.

If Jesus is truely alive within us, we will love others.
