Part of a response from user Turkle over on the advice forum:

"I challenge you to write a post as long as the one you have here telling us all about the blessings that the Lord has given you on the weekends. A person with an attitude of gratitude is a happy person indeed. By contrast, a person who has high expectations and feels entitled to what ever they want is a very dissatisfied, miserable person. I encourage you to disallow yourself the ability to see the negative, and focus on all the good that the Lord blesses you with, starting with your salvation, the certainty of your future, and the knowledge that He loves and cares for you every moment. "

response to my post "weekend woes" about my free time being lame.

So here's my list of blessings:
-I do have that M-F 9-5 job as opposed to an all-nighter or a random undependable hours job or no job
-I can pay the bills most of the time.
-I have a condo and I don't own it I rent it and it's only a notch above economy class but it's better than some of the really shabby old places downtown .... or living with my parents.... or being homeless.
-I do still have my parents and I love to talk to them and visit them (just don't wanna move back in lol)
-My parents are still married
-My car was a gift. Yes, my dad saw that my old car was falling apart slowly and he bought a used SUV that was owned by an old man who didn't drive it much and that is now my car and I don't have to pay for it.
-My dad still pays the insurance on the car because I can't afford it right now.
-I got health insurance and dental insurance through my job. This is my first job to offer that. It's cheap and easy too.
-I have a good roommate who doesn't cause me a ton of issues for once
-I have nice girlfriends all from church
-I did go to college, even if in retrospect my degree doesn't mean anything
-My parents paid for that too
-I live seaboard so I can go to the beach anytime
-I can learn to surf because I live by the beach and I got a board
-I have a good church that I really need to quit dragging my feet and commit to already
-I have a mentor from that church and she can also teach me to surf
-I don't have perfect health... I have allergies and alot of colds/sinus infections lately, but I don't have cancer, diabetes, obesity, chrons, fibro, autism or any other number of complicated disorders that plague America.
So overall I am rarin' to go most of the time.
-I get complimented for my fashion sense
-I get complimented for my cooking
-I get complimented for making fancy cakes
-I get complimented for my art
-I don't live in a country where I'm oppressed
-I don't live in a country where I can't be a normal woman and must cover myself head to toe and let men push me around
-I don't live in a country where I can't be a Christian
-I don't live in a country with no potable water or edible food and rampant AIDS with no concept of hygeine
-I don't live in a warzone
-I am not a young single mother who was impregnated at 15. I was never impregnated at all.
-I wasn't ever injured or diagnosed with anything that makes my lifespan iffy
- I'm not addicted to drugs just coffee
-I never went to jail
-I never got divorced (or married but that's not a praise)
-I never got my identity stolen
-I have tons of clothes
-I have access to all sorts of media easily and affordably
-I have a guy friend
-I have a laptop and a smartphone
-I have food
-I have wine (ha that's more of a joke praise)
-I have all the resources I need

And this list wasn't made to insult anyone or make them jealous. If I have something you don't, I'd be glad to share. And If you have something I don't, like a health condition or a teen pregnancy I'm very sorry if I made you feel bad.
I was just trying to carry out the other poster's challenge.

Bluegreysky ,
good post. glad you recognize your blessing.
but sometime the woes or trials are what we need to go through , to grow in The Lord just keep in mind when you a bump in the road of life. Because they are blessings too. Remember to be loving and compassionate to those who had to go through what you have not. Just a reminder . I am sure you are a lovely compassionate person. Have a great week.
