• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I tried to find a place to put this, but i coudlnt find a diabetes forum or anything so if i missed it, please move this.

I'm a hypo.

It's pretty bad too... I eat constantly (I try to eat complex carbs and foods high in proteins), but its not enough. I get so shaky, dizzy, emotional, etc etc (pretty much every single horrible thing that goes along with hypoglycemia)

anyway, i'm on a new diet for the next 3 weeks. I can only eat complex carbs, protein, andd vegetables. No fruit, no sugar if humanly possible.

I hate this, and am wondering if anyone else has this problem that I could talk to maybe?

Im on a diet of chocolat milk , its very rich in energy and works for me. Not that i have hypoglycemia but i have a bro has diabetes , he lives on a strict diet, only able to eat those things without salt, and has to eat on base of a schedule.

I myself have a skin disease that reacts bad on what i love most 'you guessed it right' chocolat milk. So i can relate to how much it sucks when your body reacts in a wrongfull matter to what you eat. Although my skin is constantly falling apart, i just keep on drinking chocolat milk, there's no way im going to give that up. Even if i couldn't drink it because of an accident or something, i'll be sure to hook up an IV to my bloodstream with chocolat milk in it. For me it was a matter of choice, to either live without chocolat milk and have a neat skin, or to suffer and drink chocolat milk. I would have suffered more without the chocolat milk, so that is where i am today.

I had hypoglycemia for a few years. It was pretty bad at times. I remember the shakes and the emotions. Try the no sugar, no fruit diet for a while. See a nutritionist, if you can, and ask for help.

I used to carry wheat and cheese cracker packs, the kind that come six in a pack, and V-8 in case of a crash of my blood sugar or an emergency.

Try the diet you were given for three weeks and see if it helps.

Good luck.

I have hyperglycemia high blood sugar--diabetes mellitus type 2 and have had it for 11 years now. I really do feel for you as sometimes I get hypoglycemic when blood sugar drops to low and I know what it does to a person.

I do not understand why you can not have fruit as they say the diet for both hypoglycemics and hyperglycemics is pretty much the same. But then I may be way out in left field on this.

My mother-in-law is a lot like you because her blood sugar is always low a lot and she gets dizzy spells and fainting spells.

I really do not have any information for you, but you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have found beans, meat, peanut butter, cheese, and nuts to be very helpful in maintaining a relatively-constant blood-sugar. Yes, I know most of these contain fat, but they help (I have been diabetic for 30 years).

I was told I was borderline hypoglycemic. But not bad enough to be treated I suppose. I have cut way back on my sugar intake. I eat cereal like Cheerios and I have wheat thins and some vegetable crackers. I also try to eat cheese and peanut butter and beans. I try to stick with the main meal of meat and vegetable and potato and bread. I try to stay away from the sweets now and I seem to feel better. Less shakey as well. I even stopped putting sugar in my coffee as the dry creamer has some already in it. However, with allergies I find that Benadryl causes the shakes, too.
