The eyes path was literly over my street and we got hit bad, the cell towers went down, the phones went out, no internet, no water, no electricity, no lights or places to eat or buy food or water....the end time is what it looked like.

The edge of the eye passed about 100 yards from my door here in Naples, Fl, so you can imagine the destructive power as it created tornadoes. I went up the main road and broke the tops of the electric poles like toothpicks and toppled the trees, toppled the cell towers and cut all lines of communication and ripped the tiles off the roof of the homes. But we are much better than Puerto Rico, the devastation is so bad we cant get any way to drive or get through from the airport to anyone out of the capital. We are relying on word of mouth as we cant get any cell phones to pick up, and the roads are impassible, and so no food, no water, no anything till they hack their way through....

Reddogs - I have to admit - I have a great deal more respect for you above every other human I have ever talked to on the internet. Yes indeed - a great deal more than I had yesterday.

We have family in P.R. -- Mayagüez
They say all the family is fine - they had plenty of food and water even though power was out for a while - called on their home phone.

LOL. That is funny. I too have a lot of respect for anyone who can do what Reddog said he did. I wouldn't want to cross him, as he is as powerful as a category 4 hurricane.

It is hilarious what a single typo, the omission of a single letter, can do to a post.

Glad you made it through. I am in FL too, Tampa area. We were very blessed that it was not nearly as bad as predicted. We were without power for a couple of days, but I have a generator that kept the refrigerator running and cell phones powered. I have been in Tampa for over 30 years and have never been phased by storms but this one really scared me. I pray it is not a trend, if it is I will be leaving the state.

Florida, my wife and I went to P.R to look for her aunt, and it was 'devastation'. The place she was at is almost totally off the grid, but the medical building was blown off the hill and many other parts damaged. But the manager turned out to be my fathers old assistant from way back, and we were both shocked when we realized it, and he is great. He was already rebuilding the damaged buildings and not waiting for the insurance to send the money.

I booked a flight to Aguadilla with not much assurance I could get back, and rented a house and the outer parts of P.R. where just getting power back, but the inner parts in the mountains still had nothing. They had to drive down to find food and water through washed out roads and electric and cable lines, and something I didn't think about once they reached the main highway, bumper to bumper traffic with thousands of others looking for food and water.

That's what my brother said, and I told him and go to California to be buried in a earthquake, no thanks, LOL. I am here in Naples for the duration, and if the storm surge goes to 20 feet and gets me, I am not worried as the next second will be the resurrection and then we go to heaven...

Ha, yeah, I think CA is out. The most likely move would be to Austin, my office has a branch there that I could work out of pretty easily. But hey, I love it here, so that is a last resort.

Your phrase, "the end time is what it looked like", reminds me of a book I just read on the Johnstown, PA flood of 1889. The complete devastation of an area of populated with between 30-50,000 people was really incredible. Miles of neighborhoods were wiped out completely just as many of the people who lived in them were sitting down to eat supper. Even the foundations were gone. And train locomotives were swept off the tracks and carried miles down river.

The entire story of that flood reminds me of Noah's day. All the people who died did so needlessly. They were warned hours in advance that the dam was leaking badly and going to break, but they paid no attention to the warnings even though they had all known for decades that the dam that broke was a tragedy waiting to happen. The few people who believed the warnings and left town for the hills were mocked and told they were cowards for listening to the warning even though the Conemaugh river was already over its banks and flooding basements and low lying areas of town.

Well, we are getting ready for the new hurricane season, and my roof still has a blue tarp on it. I talked to one of my friends from the local civic association and he said his roof is also damaged with a tarp along with a lot of others, its taking a long time to get the insurance to do much to say nothing about getting a roofer...
