  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My family & I are currently in the path of Hurricane Ike. We are not in the mandatory evacuation area, but are expecting very high winds. We will most likely going to my parents house (still in the area) tomorrow.

We live on the 3rd floor of a 3 story apartment building and feel that we would be safer there , even though there is alot of trees.

While I'm afraid for my family and I, I'm trying my best to rebuke fear and trust that the Lord will protect us all.

PLease pray for us and for all of those in the Greater Houston Area.

praying for you. I don't watch television, so when I went up to visit my sister Wednesday I was kind of scared and shocked to see a sign going into Houston, "keep your gas tanks filled, hurricane forming in the gulf." *glunk* It might have stopped me, though this is probably that was the last time I will get to see my sister in a year. But God got me home safely and I "evacuated" a couple hours before everyone else was required. praying strongly though. I am still a Houstonian at heart. God bless!

Praying in agreement with this loving prayer. In Jesus name may THY perfect will be done and may more turn to your help during this storm. Thank you for joining us in prayer and for all of your blessings, Amen!

May God protect you and your family, and all those in the path of this hurricane. May He give you wisdom to prepare, and peace above and beyond all that you can do, ask, or imagine.

Hurricane Ike was a scary storm I have to say. My family and I rode it out even though we were under a mandatory evactuation. We have too many animals to pack up and we weren't leaving them behind, so we all decided to just ride it out. We made it, but it was one scary ride.

I hope that you came out of it okay too. We lost 3 chickens and a rooster that was dear to me. A little bit of damage to the house and lost a few tree limbs. Only thing I cried over though, was Big Red. Our awesome rooster who is gone but never forgotten. ='(

Yes, it was a scary storm. My family and I came out OK with minimal damage. Several large oaks fell all around us, but none hit our apartment. One missed by a couple of feet.

Our biggest concern now is finances. Bills piling up and no income since our jobs are currently closed due to no power. I am fortunate to have power, most in Houston still don't.

Our biggest concern now is finances. Bills piling up and no income since our jobs are currently closed due to no power. I am fortunate to have power, most in Houston still don't.

We got our power back on Friday, had it about 5 hours, and lost it again. They got it back on late Friday night, and so far so good. My sisters are still without power though. =/

I have been out of work since the 12th, so I can understand your concern. I've been told that FEMA will take care of the missing income. Haven't really looked into it yet, but I do need to as soon as possible. I will let you know what I find out.

Glad to hear that you are safe. =) Also glad to get back to sleeping in my bed agian. During the storm, we all slept in the livingroom. And over the weekend, I was at a friends house since the power had gone out again. My back misses my bed, and my stomach isn't too fond of the MRE's we've been living off of. >_< Can't wait to get real food again. Unfortunately, we have no food since we were without power so long. =/ I know that we are in Gods hands though, and He's always taken care of us.

Praying for you and your finances. I have been in that boat since long before the storm, so I understand completely. Keep your head up. God is taking care of everything. I'm confident that He has something in store for us. =)

God Bless.

I was watching the news the other night and they said that it is false about FEMA giving out any money. =/ But a lot of company's are offering a free month or discounts. You might want to look into that and see if yours are.

Verizon gave me a free month, and the people we are paying for our house has defered (sp?) a payment for us. Direct TV gave us a discount and a lot of our other utility companies are doing the same thing. Look into that with your companies, and see if they are offering anything like that for you as well. I am praying they do. ::hugs::

Hope you are able to go back to work by now. I hear the lights are pretty much restored everywhere. My sisters are now with lights, so I know they are much happier. My prayers are with you and all others who have suffered in this storm. It was definately a scary one, and I will never ride one out again. >_<
