Hurricane Frances

We had the fires of '98, now this season....the 'Era of Water and Wind'.

This will be the 3rd hurricane to hit Florida this season. In addition, we have recieved above normal rainfall for the last several months.

They're already calling for evacuations in some counties in Florida. I hope and pray for the safety of those in this storm's path.

I live in Northeast Florida. We're not getting out of this one unscaved. I just pray it's minimal for everyone.

people calling the bible nonsense is more of a sign of end times that the weather.

I've posed this question before in a thread on Charley, but I didn't get an answer, so I'm repeating here. Evacuation is great if you have a car. What about those folks who don't own a car, or are homeless, or live in nursing homes or other institutional settings? How do they leave? Or are they forced to "ride it out?"

That is a good question. I had to think about it for a moment. EMS will provide transportation for nursing homes and others that need it from a medical standpoint. Many of the shelters and church groups down here provide transportation but beyond that I don't know. I know that public transportation is getting shut down tomorrow with the storm expected to hit on Saturday so that brings up more questions. After this weekend I should know more and will post what I have found out.
