Vision: The Little Girl by the Pool
(by Judy aka Praiser here at CF)
There was a little girl sitting on the steps by the side of a swimming pool. In the palm of her left hand she was carefully holding a pile of sand. In her right hand she was meticulously and painstakingly picking one grain of sand at a time between her forefinger and her thumb, and placing it in the pool. She looked so sad and lonely just sitting there dropping the sand into the pool one grain at a time. In the water there was a much smaller pile of sand than the one in her hand. Her sad eyes glanced at me briefly, but she continued to methodically take a grain of sand and drop it into the pool.
As I wondered why she was doing this, I intently watched her sway forward, bent over the warm water with a grain in between her fingers, drop it in the same place as the last, and then lean back again to look up and glance at the pool. The tiny grains of sand were so insignificant that as she dropped them into the pool there was not even the slightest hint of a ripple. With a disappointed look on her face, she would reach back into the mound in her left hand and cautiously pull out another speck of fragmented stone and bend forward once again and toss it in the water. Each time the results were the same.
I heard a voice ask me, "Do you see what she is doing?"
"Yes, I replied, "but I dont understand why is she putting the sand in the pool?"
"The sand is not really sand. The sand is symbolic of things."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Each grain of sand represents a possession -- like a dream home or a fulfilling job. The sand can be relationships with different people like a spouse, a lover, a friend, a parent, or a child. It could be a boat or a car, a plane, a yacht, or it could even a pet. The sand is also symbolic of anything a person tries to use or to do to fill a hole in their heart. It could be jewelry, furniture or clothing. It could be food, drugs or alcohol -- or even good deeds or works of charity. There are many things each grain of sand can represent, as numerous as the sand on a beach."
"Well, I still don't understand why she is putting them in the pool." I questioned further.
"The pool is also symbolic. The pool is like a big hole in each person's heart. There is only one way to fill it, and 'things' will never work."
I felt I was beginning to understand. "So you mean each grain of sand is something significant in her life? Is she trying to fill a hole in her heart that she can never fill?"
"That is exactly what she is trying to do. Because each grain can be something that takes much time, effort and expense, she could spend her entire life placing grains of sand in the pool. However, as you can clearly see, when she looks up after dropping the grain of sand in the pool, the water has not even moved. She could even try to take handfuls of sand at a time and throw them into the pool, but she will not ever fill the hole in her heart with things."
The explanation continued, "I show you a pool, as it is easier for you to envision, but the hole in each person's heart is as vast as all the seas on earth put together. No 'thing' can fill the immense void that is in every human soul."
As I pondered this further I concluded that no person wants sand in their pool! I also realized that the pool was already filled -- with water. Water in a pool is there to enjoy, to swim in and to relax. The water is there to bring pleasure. Sand in a pool only brings aggravation. I wondered why she would want to put sand in a pool of refreshing water, and why her thoughts were fixated on the sand and filling the hole her heart that way. The little girl was not enjoying the pool as was intended. She was also frustrated with her inability to control it.
Then I heard, "I Am the only One who can fill that hole, for it is a God-sized hole. I fill the hole with Living Water! I have come to give her life and give it to her in abundance. ... Go tell her!"
Now I clearly understood the meaning of the vision and it is my prayer that it speaks to you too.
