Hundreds queue for 'Erotic Church Service'

'A female dancer dances in a skin coloured stocking in the middle of
the church in front of the altar. She crawls about on the floor and
wraps herself in a hanging down white cloth. Is this a blasphemous
provocation, a scoffing at the Christian religion?

'No it is only one of the items on the agenda of the Protestant Church
Assembly. The six-hundred-year-old church, the Church of the
Carthusians in the south of Cologne has become the stage for an erotic
church service. Nearly one thousand interested people waited outside
the door of the former monastery, despite a thunderstorm- but in the
end there was only room for four hundred people.

'For those who managed to get in, they had to take off their shoes on a
white painted church interior. Above the entrance, there was the
caption, “a warm welcome to the Vineyard of Love”. The space
between the benches had been overlaid with velvet and from the ceiling
wine and rose leaves were strewn onto the spectators. A man came to the
microphone and announced, This is an erotic church service, can you move
a bit closer together, all of you. This was followed by saxophone music
and dance.

'The vicar arrived in a black cassock and barefoot. He announced that
eroticism and lust are not taboo areas pushed aside by God. In fact,
"lust has to be lived out", said Armin Beuscher, who tempered his
speech immediately, by saying, “we are of course today in this
service only able to implement this in a limited manner”.

Weird.....

I may somewhat agree with their ideals (eroticism and lust that's not self-seeking and with your spouse shouldn't be taboo) but I don't think the church is the place for that kind of display.

Good that we're getting in a different crowd though :-D

I wish we'd have the bravery of Christ to go into the temples and flip over the tables, figuratively speaking that is. Let us pray that we rebuke such acts of indecency, and also that we realize that the church is a place for sinner to gather to find redemption and honor God, not to get off to loose women.

Well, seems to me Esther did a similar type dance as part of her adition to become queen that lead to her people being saved.

I remember a church 15 years or so having a stripper dance at a church someplace ... so this isn't the 1st time its happened.

I think they are trying to mock God. God is not to be mocked. In the back of those people's mind there will always be the question......wonder what God has in store for me for being a participant in this?
Another indication to us, and a wake up call, to preach the truth.

In Mk 16 the diciples 'Preached'
In Luke 24 they 'Praised'
In Acts 1 they 'Prayed'

All these things are in the same timeframe......with the result that the Acts of the Apostles, preaching, praising, praying, brought about the mighty Acts of God. Multitudes saved. Mighty miracles etc.

We also need to Preach, Praise, and Pray as they did....and we also will witness Gods power.......?

I would not approve of this.
Lust is fine. Within marriage. Sexuality should be celebrated. Within marriage. This is putting lust on a pedestal, and glorifying lust for the sake of lust. It is porn lite, and I find it offensive to be perfectly honest.
