  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
I do hope republic will win in this election.
President Bush contribute a lot to our nation's human rights. He is the one who deserve our respect. I dont know how others view him. I must say he is at least the most notable hero in the eyes of Chinese.
Ten years ago, the police in our country came around seizing christians almost everywhere, they punish them seriously. They dont give them food or water, and a few christians are even tied up to our school gate! today, although our government still persecutes christian, they dont do that in public now. I think it is the president Bush's pressure that makes our government think twice before doing these evil things. In my personal experience, the democratic party only care the lives of American people, and they does less to defend the rights of human beings around world compared with the republic parity.

Well, here's my worry, something to ponder:

If they're not doing it in public anymore, does that mean that the punishment is less severe?

I'd be worried that the punishment would be more severe, since the government now knows to keep it out of the public's eye.

Granted I don't know what happened here a decade ago, I've only been here a year. But I definitely don't want to know what happens now.

But there's a LONG LONG LONG way to go for China in the human rights department. And that's just from what I could gather in the last year.
