The Hubble Telescope has after more than 1000 hours of observations mapped the dark matter upon which stars and galaxies are built.

This is huge because dark matter makes up most of the mass of space but because it is dark, we've not really known that much about it. It also gives us a better look at how galaxies are formed, and how long it takes them to form.

"It's still a small fraction of the sky we're talking about [the amount that this study mapped] - something like two square degrees out of 40,000 square degrees in total; but they are definitely the clearest pictures we have to date," he said.

Awesome. The Hubble Space Telescope is among the best investments ever made by the US government--or any government.

It will be interesting to see how this is used in debated dealing with the age of things as it seems to point towards really really old things.

Ah yes, more evidence against the YECs most likely. However exact figures will be quite useful to be sure.
