  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

1. currently "undecided" because I have yet to transfer to my new school. It will be mathematics: adolescent education

2. I plan on becoming a high school math teacher.

3. About a month ago, I was preparing to enter the youth ministries program at my college. The Lord essentially told me that I wasn't cut out for ministry and all that it entails. But, I do have a heart for teenagers and to become a teacher.

1) What is your degree

I'm an English/Philosophy double major

2) How do you intend to use it (leisure, to get a job, to supplement a job)

I want to go to law school, and/or go into full time journalism/media-- preferably with an academic journal or magazine.

3) Why did you pick this degree and future?

I really love the subjects and have fun learning them. I also LOVE to read and analyze (and write long long essays) and those skills are very important to the areas that I study. I want to go to law school because I have an interest in international trade law (too many world politics classes:help:) and I want to practice that. I've been involved with radio and print journalism since high school, so I also want to continue along those lines in the future.

1) What is your degree

BA was in computer science. I took that degree 'cuz I already knew a lot about computers/IT/programming and I wanted to make lots of money :) While at university I accepted Christ, and went back to school and got a Master's degree in theology.

2) How do you intend to use it (leisure, to get a job, to supplement a job)

Both; since I missed out on over 20 years of church, Sunday school, etc, I wanted to make up for lost time! :) But also because it will open doors to work in ministry roles. I'm currently involved with TruthMedia, an online evangelism group that is part of Campus Crusade.

3) Why did you pick this degree and future?

After coming to faith, I knew I wanted to be involved in some kind of evangelistic and/or apologetic ministry, because I wanted to help tell others about the truth and joy that I'd found. This seemed to be a good way to help me do that. :)

1) What is your degree

Politcal Science

2) How do you intend to use it (leisure, to get a job, to supplement a job)

I want to be a lawyer, preferably in California.

3) Why did you pick this degree and future?

I see lawyers as a very valuable asset to our lives. Whether defending our civil liberties, keeping innocents out of jail, or making sure the punishment fits the crime, I see the defense lawyer doing a lot for the world(I want to be a defense lawyer).

1) What is your degree? I am working towards an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting.

2) How do you intend to use it (leisure, to get a job, to supplement a job)?
I am planning on using this degree to start a business or accounting firm.

3) Why did you pick this degree and future? After a year of wandering around a college not knowing what to do and months of prayer and lots of tears, I figured it out while talking on the phone with my boyfriend. I transferred to a community college and started the program. I can't really explain WHY I chose this, but I just did.

1) What is your degree?
My first time around I majored in Engineering and Management and minored in Mathematics. I completed the degree in 3.5 years.
After about a year and a half off, I began pursuing the second degree (part-time) for a Master's of Divinity.

2) How do you intend to use it (leisure, to get a job, to supplement a job)?
My first degree was not used for it's intended purpose. I only worked engineering for about 4 months, I am actually utilizing the management degree a lot these days at my full-time job, but a management degree is not necessary for my job. Math is fun, but I rarely use this either, I do intend on helping my kids out when they get older. I was able to gain a lot of insights and am glad to have attained that degree (no bitterness about spending over $100,000 for a degree I do not use.)
My Master's is intended to be used leading a flock somewhere. This degree will take me a while to get. I may find an opportunity to use my other degree to some extent while I finish up this one, who knows what God will have in store for me.
I would eventually be interested in a doctoral program if the opportunity arises. I am also interested in the medical field, maybe get EMT or Paramedic at some point.

3) Why did you pick this degree and future?
I picked the Engineering because I always assumed that that was what I would do with my life. I picked up Management to broaden my horizons and open up new possibilities. Mathematics minor was only 1-2 additional classes and allowed me to tutor for some extra money to help claw my way through my Bachelor's degree.
The Divinity thing was a result of a calling I felt from the Lord to drop my previous pursuits in favor of eventual full-time ministry.

1) Music (performance, tho the degree will not say that) with a piano concentration.

2) Planning to go into church music. No, that does not mean "praise team". It means hymns and stuff in Latin/German/Italian/French, among other things. Possibly graduate school as well, and also some private lesson teaching.

3) I have always been extremely comfortable with traditional church music, and always extremely uncomfortable with ultra-contemporary "praise" "music" like the kind of stuff that's popular at my college. I was in music education for a while, but always felt like I was just tolerating it. I only stayed in it for 2.5 years because I had no idea what else I would do. Then I started hearing about the demand for organists and music directors, so I finally found my way out. I started getting really interested in different repertoire, and it took off from there.

I'm a chemical engineer, and I intend to use my degree to get a job.

I chose it because I really like figuring out how things work. not just what turns into what or how it turns into it (that's chemistry alone), but why it does so and the processes that can make it do so. And chemical engineering fit that bill pretty darn well.

Plus, if I'm lucky, I'll get sent to one of those plants that deal with volatile substances that are so expensive to purify it's easier to store them unpurified and let them blow up every so often. They do exist, and it's AWESOME.

3) Why did you pick this degree and future? I've always been good with numbers and I took an accounting class in high school and did really well. When I was younger and sometime still, I would take an Oriental Trading Company magazine and add up every price in the magazine and see how much everything in the mag would cost.

I'm hopefully going to be getting a Special Education degree. But honestly I have no clue how i'm going to use it yet. I picked it because I have felt for a long time that God wanted me to teach. but I really have no clue what age group or what content. and I thought about opening up a low income tutoring center or something like that. and i figured that the knowledge that i hope to attain in by getting this degree should help me in anything that I do.

1. I received my B.A. in English and am currently working towards my M.S. in Publishing.

2. I'm hoping to go into editorial and write on the side. I'm really thinking about Children's and YA Publishing.

3. There was a time in highschool when I was researching Computer Engineering as a field, but I wasn't happy in my advanced math courses. I thankfully wised up and realized that reading was the one thing that made me truly happy. Publishing felt like a natural course to take.

My current degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. When I graduate at the end of next year I'm planning to either go back to university and study social work, or go to Polytech to do a counselling degree.
I originally started social work last year, right out of high school, but after one year I decided I felt too young to go into something as serious as social work and postponed it for a few of years to get a BA (and some life experience) first. :)

My degree is Sociology.

I plan to use it to do youth counseling or work with youth in some other way.

I chose this degree after I became a Christian (before I was majoring in Zoology) because I realized that instead of being jaded about mankind and the sorry state of things, I could work with the kids that will be our future and help them to be productive adults. I realize that I can't change the world, but if I change the course of just a few kids' lives during my life, it will have been worth it.
