How was your day, Friends?

THANK YOU to whoever prayed for me about the SNOW on this site! I finaly stopped it. I'm so relieved. We're going to have a literal white Christmas this year and I am very, very happy. I hope I can shovel the driveway or that a neighbor will do it for me. I don't think I can. Prayers will certainly be appreciated.

I used to collect Cherished Teddies. I gave most of them to my oldest daughter.She kind of begged for them, but must have given them away, I never saw them displayed at her house.

I have a cane. I don't need it all the time. I'm wondering if someone will shovel my driveway.

I'm fine waiting until the snow melts to get out.

I shop online, but I realize why we are not the preferred demographic - most the things I see, either I already have or have no use for.

I heard you guys got it bad. I'm in western New York near the Pennsylvania border. It was very cold yesterday, but not today. By the middle of the week it's supposed to hit the balmy 40s.

I'm in the midwest. I can see the tips of grass above the snow; that's not much snow. The cold made it unpleasant to stay outdoors to shovel the driveway. At my old age I decided to only shovel the center of the front porch and the walk over to the driveway. I didn't go to the mailbox. But I have to take my trash to the street in a few minutes. Pick up is early in the morning (before dawn). Our temp is supposed to be 50 on Thursday.

I’m semi-hibernating. I have not been out in weeks. Our mailbox is on the front porch right near the door. My husband has been doing food shopping and trash taking out; yeah, I take advantage of him but he likes taking care. I do all the tech stuff around the house.

I've often wished the mailbox was on the porch, but I live on the edge of a somewhat small town that has grown a lot in the past 20 years.

Today I watched a couple of movies and looked up some stuff on wiki.

I'm technically challenged. My husband wasn't a whiz in that department but he had a college degree.

Where I used to live, up until two years ago, had the mailbox across the street on the side without a sidewalk. I don't know whether it was worse in summer when traffic was heavier or winter because of the dark. The mailbox was strapped to a telephone pole because it was knocked off its post so often, not intentionally.

I have no pets now, but I miss my two parakeets. One was a Rosy Bourke. She was pink. Paco was blue and very, very tame. I used to do lots of counted cross stitch and I made homemade cards. I spent hours gardening flowers; can't do that anymore. Now I watch a couple of movies a day, the news and weather, and usually do some laundry.

One of my husband's three brothers and family lived in Rochester, then Fair Haven; we visited a couple of times.

Our snow has melted.

It’s too bad you can’t garden, cross stitch or make cards anymore. TV is okay for part of the day but it gets a bit boring after a few hours, imho.

I only do laundry when I run out of socks or underwear. Lately I’ve been mending my clothes as well.

Oh, no. Life is boring everywhere for old people. I feel sorry for them.

My nephew told me about another tradition. It comes from Spain. It’s to eat 12 grapes, one for each chime of the clock at midnight.

That won’t work for me because I’m not staying up that late. Maybe I could do it at noon instead.

I don't care about luck because I'm BLESSED. My mother never bought blackeyed peas ever. But I saw a recipe for Hoppin' John when I was a newly wed. I decided to see if my husband would like it. He did. That started the tradition in our family for New Year's Day. One of my children keeps up the tradition!

My great-uncle's widow asked me if my husband liked dirty rice. I knew about it, but had never had it. I said, "He'll eat it if you don't tell him what's in it."

My dad was born and raised in Texas but my mother wasn't from the South and neither was his second wife.
