Hey,
Are you a good songwriter or do you want to try it out?
Cause I need some special help. Before I was reborn, I loved to play piano (since 12 years now) and I started to write my own melodies. Unfortunately, my songwriting (lyrics) isn't very good. This is not my talent, I must say. When I sit down, and want to be inspired by Jesus, to write my feelings, I can't find the write words, to express what I want to say. (perhaps, because english is not my motherlanguage). But I want my songs to be in English. So I started to collect songs which I made up on the piano, but I need someone who helps me with the lyrics. Maybe you want to try yourselve out as a songwriter? Or can you give me some advise how to get inspired to write a song, if thats even possible?
I already played a song in my church, but everybody wondered, where the lyrics are. I said I don't have any, because I can't write lyrics.
Do you want to present me your lyric? doesn't matter for what kind of music it is or for what kind of melody, I can easily make up melodies.
But whatever your talent is, God Blessed and inspired us to write good lyrics, or to compose worship songs..
well, have a nice day

How to write a christian song???

First, put on your christian underwear then get a christian pen and paper. Play some christian notes on your christian guitar and try to use every christian cliche' you can think of.

Seriously....

Just write. Let your words be from your informed world-view and don't worry about it being christian. That is what you are!

If you are looking for inspiration, literature is the best place. Read the prophets (Isaiah has inspired many songs for me) and read outside of the Bible also. The songs will "come" to you then.

Be Blessed and prosper in His ways!

If you can use the combination of chords A, C, D, and G, you've got a hit.:D

Also, use Psalms. Darrell Evan's does it all the time.

Ok ok, I'm not bashing Evans nor the concidence that most of his songs are in ACDG. I do speak out of experience when I say most worship songs are in ACDG.

There is no "how" to write a song. You can't teach it, you can't explain it. You can only feel it. That sounds kinda cheesey, I know, but it's the best way I can put it. You need to use your emotions to manipulate both the music and the lyrics.

As for Christian lyrics? That's probably the easiest thing to do in music. Just say how cool God is, make a few catchy rhymes, and there you have it.

I like Remy's idea, though. ;)
