Paul writes about trusting God in Romans. What does this mean? Does it mean I act with kindness because he did? Or just listening for Him and doing what He tells me?

Thank you!

In ancient greek the world faith means both faith and trust. Here it comes with the meaning of trust.
Trust in God because He knows what's necessary for your salvation.
An illness, an accident; Maybe.
You have to trust Him always. That's the most difficult part of our faith. Trust our God when all things go bad. At that time, God seems so distant and seems not to care for our prayers.

I would say it means
1) believing him, in his word written, the Scriptures, allowing them to transform one's mind, rather than transforming them to one's mind,
2) obeying him, as his will is revealed in his word written, the Scriptures--his primary will being to
believe in Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sin,
3) praying and trusting him for his provision as one lives in obedience to him in his word,
4) all of which gives knowing him, loving him, and abiding in him,
5) which will be most necessary in getting through times of suffering.

What does this mean?
Do you trust in Jesus's death and resurrection for the forgiveness of your sins?
Do you trust/believe that the bible is the word of God?
Do you obey it? Now that is a very big question. Let me make it simpler.
Do you obey the ten commandments? Not to earn anything, but as a gesture of your love for Jesus.
Think about it, one of the most common breaking of the 10C, is the second, the use of ' Oh my God, [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], Jesus, etc etc etc.

But trust is far more than this.

At some point in your life, the world will crash around you, job loss, death of a pet, parent etc.
What will you do then? For the Christian they can blindly trust God, seek strength from him to get through those minutes.
That is when one trust God.

I trust in the Lord because He shows me how to live life day by day by His commandments ( Matthew 22:36-40, Matthew 7:12, Matthew 19:16-26,etc.). He told us to give alms, pray, & fast ( Matthew 6:1-18) as the way of living by His commandments are for ourselves and for others in daily well being and the hope of salvation as explained by St. Paul in Colossians 1:1-29 etc. This is where we live for the hope in salvation by grace ( Ephesians 2:8-18) for God so loved the world ( John 3:16-21).

you know Him as He is, and therefore you follow what He says and also remain faithful when He seems distant.

Don't gratify the fleeting pleasures of the flesh. If you worship, worship in Spirit and truth.

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus because the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. What the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering in order that the law's requirements might be fulfilled in us who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live by the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh but those who live by the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit."

Noteworthy is that Paul says he serves God with his mind, but with his flesh, he can't help but do the things he doesn't want to do. Paul is a far far wiser man than I am and I can only guess that what he means is that it is God who empowers us through the Spirit to live a Spirit-filled life so that we can set our minds on the things of the Spirit.

John 3:16-17 do you believe that? Then your trusting that He will keep His word. Your trusting/faith in what He said. Faith in what we can't see. Trust Isa 26:3 "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."

We read "casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].". So when we do this we gave all that to Him and we trust He cares and He will help, fix all of it. You never give it another thought you TRUST have FAITH knowing He will keep HIs word. Trust in cling to rely on.

Just a note to visitors. This thread was posted in the Eastern Orthodox subforum, so I think it should be presumed that the OP is seeking an Eastern Orthodox response.

Then can this subforum be made accessable by those who identify as orthodox in the same way that the catholic forums are accessable only by catholics.
Why would we do that? Visitors are welcome to ask questions and post in fellowship. It doesn't require much effort to check where the thread is located before posting a response.

And every time I have posted a comment based on the bible, without critisising orthodox believes I end up getting warnings

Posting interpretations of Scripture that are contrary to Orthodox understandings in the Orthodox sub forum with result in warnings. The same rules apply in all the congregational subforums.

because it’s not just NOT criticizing what we believe. this isn’t the first time you have not followed the rules for this place. it should have sunk in by now.

Which makes limiting access to only those who idntify as orthodox all the more necessary.

Here is a critism.
My comments are always based on the bible, you see biblical based comments as critism, so logically you do not follow the bible.

Or you could simply get into the habit of scrolling back a little bit after you've clicked on a new thread, and check which forum it was posted in. It isn't difficult and takes very little time.

again, or you could just read the rules. the fact that you are one of the rare ones that somehow either forgets or just ignores when people point this out isn’t good.

no, I follow the Bible. I do not follow how you read the Bible. that’s an assumption based on an assertion. nothing logical about that.
