First, congratulations on the new archbishop! Exciting news!

Second: Thanks for this look at I Timothy. I Timothy is one of those books of the Bible that I do not love, because it's mostly used to crush people. But the author of this piece describes I Timothy in a way that suggests that the letter was trying to offer genuinely good guidance to a church that was broken in a particular way. I plan to go reread I Timothy with this in mind.

Thank you! Archbishop Kay's been in Perth now for five years or so, so she's not quite so new any more. This was prompted by her recent visit to Sydney, where the usual awkwardness for women clergy visiting Sydney was really put under the spotlight.
