Don't try to read. Listen to Biblegateway. That web site has the Bible in audio format for KJV and NIV if you click on the speaker icon for those translations.

Example

BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 150 versions and 50 languages.: Audio

But there are lots of creative things you can do like this. Really any time you drive, do house work etc. you can have the Bible on, you just need to get the right media for whatever electronics you have as far as MP3s, DVDs, livestreaming internet etc.

But you should also remember that saint Paul considered what your doing right now (taking care of kids) as being innately spiritual as far as spiritual disciplines is considered. I'm talking about 1 Timothy 2:15.

As far as praying. You can do that anytime, in fact I think it is better to do that throughout the day, which is kind of what the Bible means by "praying without ceasing".

Listen to Christian music and hymns- sing them to your kids, let them join in. Listen to audio books and sermons and an audio Bible . I used to have a daily calendar for moms that had a prayer or verse to recite to kids as they are there with you, it also had ideas for simple activities to do daily with babies and toddlers to point them to the Lord.

Pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17). Talk to God like a mother would talk to her mother on the phone (I've literally seen them carry 2 kids at once with a phone against their shoulder), or like you talk to your BFF while taking care of the kids. You can do this! :grinning:

Children are precious to God and taking care of them pleases Him. God wants relationships, not religion. A MASSIVE part of relationships is taking care of others, let alone children.

3 Children are a gift from the Lord.
Babies are a reward.
4 Sons who are born to a young man
are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.
5 Happy is the man
who has his bag full of arrows.
They will not be defeated
when they fight their enemies in court.

Jesus Welcomes Children
13 Then the people brought their little children to Jesus so that he could put his hands on them and pray for them. When his followers saw this, they told the people to stop bringing their children to Jesus. 14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people who are like these children.” 15 After Jesus put his hands on the children, he left there.

Jesus Chooses Matthew
9 When Jesus was leaving, he saw a man named Matthew. Matthew was sitting in the tax office. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” And Matthew stood up and followed Jesus.

10 Jesus had dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and “sinners” came and ate with Jesus and his followers. 11 The Pharisees saw this and asked Jesus’ followers, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”

12 Jesus heard the Pharisees ask this. So he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor. Only the sick need a doctor. 13 Go and learn what this means: ‘I want faithful love more than I want animal sacrifices.’ I did not come to invite good people. I came to invite sinners.”

Is It Right to Heal on the Sabbath?
14 On a Sabbath day, Jesus went to the home of a leading Pharisee to eat with him. The people there were all watching Jesus very closely. 2 A man with dropsy was brought before Jesus. 3 Jesus said to the Pharisees and teachers of the law, “Is it right or wrong to heal on the Sabbath day?” 4 But they would not answer his question. So Jesus took the man, healed him, and sent him away. 5 Jesus said to the Pharisees and teachers of the law, “If your son or ox falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not pull him out quickly?” 6 And they could not answer him.

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
23 On the Sabbath day, Jesus was walking through some grainfields. His followers were with him and picked some grain to eat. 24 The Pharisees saw this and said to Jesus, “Why are your followers doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

25 Jesus answered, “You have read what David did when he and those with him were hungry and needed food. 26 It was during the time of Abiathar the high priest. David went into God’s house and ate the bread that was made holy for God. The law of Moses says that only priests may eat that bread. But David also gave some of the bread to those who were with him.”

27 Then Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath day was made to help people. They were not made to be ruled by the Sabbath day. 28 The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Perhaps, one thing you can do is repeat a short prayer, in your mind, until it becomes like your breath. It can be anything. Keep it short, and change it periodically to fit the day. "Lord, thank you." Or, "Lord, help us." You can learn to be conscious of God's perpetual presence in the oddest of circumstances, trust me. :)

How to fit in time to read and pray?

Learn to pray to God while you are doing what you are doing. Share yourself in good and bad with Him. This way you can learn to pray unceasingly.

Audio bible or musical bible. Kids love music, so put on music that praises God and you can worship God as you go about your tasks.

God is love, that is what these little ones need plenty of as well, so include Him into everything, you wont be disappointed i promise.
