joyce meyer said in a sermon if the devil is going to speak to you, you better learn how to speak back. She said he runs my husband down and i say yeah but he does this and that.
Me speaking: I think that is wrong here is why.
This is what Jesus does in Heaven when satan accuses us. What did Jesus do when He was a man? The Bible tells us the 3 temptation of Christ in the wilderness. WHy are those 3 temptations important because that is every way you will be tempted by satan. Jesus does everything for a reason, but before we get ahead did Jesus speak to satan? Not really. Jesus did not use His own words other than to tell him to go. He quoted the Bible. Now yes Jesus is the word of God and they are His words for He is the word, but what I mean is He did not come up with anything new. He showed us what to do use God's words. This is one reason Jesus came was to show us how to live. The first temptation satan said if you are the son of God tell these stones to be made of bread and eat. What did Jesus say? Man shall not live by bread alone but every word the precede out of the mouth of the living God. Jesus quoted the Bible to him and also exposed his temptation with out accusing satan. why is that important? It was said that Michael took great care not to accuse satan but said God rebuke you. satan is the great accuser before God, we don't want to be that before God. If satan is the great accuser, and we accuse who are we serving by accusing? satan. Its just like satan is the father of lies and The Holy Spirit is The Spirit of Truth, so if we lie we are serving satan and if we speak the truth we are serving God. but there is more to it. Why did satan come after Jesus that way. The first temptation was that of Jesus desires. He was very hungry. satan will tempt you by your desires. How do you respond? With Gods words. Man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceed out of the mouth of the living God. You can say Just that and it covers every sin of desire, or you could say if your being tempted to look at a woman, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery. Get it.
In that first temptation what other desires were tested. satan said if you be the Son of God... desire of pride, challenge of Faith, temptation to be arrogant. in other words satan was trying to create an ego in Jesus. Also the desire for Jesus to do His own will and not God's will. So look at the response now. Man shall not live by bread alone, but every word that proceed out of the mouth of the living God. Jesus submitted to The Father yet again. See how profound that one test is.
The second test. satan took Jesus to the high point on the temple and said jump down for it is written you will not hurt your foot He will send His angels and they will hold you. Jesus said it is also written Thou shall not put the Lord God to the test. DO you see what satan did there Misdirection. he tried to use Jesus understanding of God's word against Him. This is why it is important to know God's word, you must study hard get in school and study it not just on the internet. The Chinese say if you want to learn something first seek out the best teacher, because as Jesus said a student can not be greater than his teacher. So Jesus is the teacher, but also find the best men or women to teach you. So satan tried to use Jesus faith against Him, he tried to use Jesus to sin by putting God to the test, a test which would not have happen because God would not be tested. Do you ever find your self calling God to do something and you built your faith up and then it goes all wrong and is horrible, well were you testing God? so the enemy will come at us in times of trouble to use us to test God, to drive a wedge. How did Jesus respond with The commandment Thou shall not put God to the test. Study hard you will be tested.
3rd satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms the world, and said he would give all them to him if he worshiped him. Jesus said you shall worship God and only God, get out of here satan. Riches, power, every temptation of the world Jesus was being tempted with. What did He respond with, The commandment from the Bible. The word of God is what He used in all 3 cases. The words Jesus spoke Get Out of Here satan. Jesus use the Bible to speak all the way up to get out of here satan. You should never use your own words unless those words are get out of here satan. Are we stronger than Jesus? This is what Jesus did, He used the Bible, God's word, and then cast out satan. Our words can not stand but God's words will never fall or fail. If you start using your own words trying to out wit the enemy you will lose, because your trying to fist fight in a sword fight. God's word is the sword of God. So how do you speak to satan? you don't, you quote God and cast out the enemy.
