joyce meyer said in a sermon if the devil is going to speak to you, you better learn how to speak back. She said he runs my husband down and i say yeah but he does this and that.

Me speaking: I think that is wrong here is why.
This is what Jesus does in Heaven when satan accuses us. What did Jesus do when He was a man? The Bible tells us the 3 temptation of Christ in the wilderness. WHy are those 3 temptations important because that is every way you will be tempted by satan. Jesus does everything for a reason, but before we get ahead did Jesus speak to satan? Not really. Jesus did not use His own words other than to tell him to go. He quoted the Bible. Now yes Jesus is the word of God and they are His words for He is the word, but what I mean is He did not come up with anything new. He showed us what to do use God's words. This is one reason Jesus came was to show us how to live. The first temptation satan said if you are the son of God tell these stones to be made of bread and eat. What did Jesus say? Man shall not live by bread alone but every word the precede out of the mouth of the living God. Jesus quoted the Bible to him and also exposed his temptation with out accusing satan. why is that important? It was said that Michael took great care not to accuse satan but said God rebuke you. satan is the great accuser before God, we don't want to be that before God. If satan is the great accuser, and we accuse who are we serving by accusing? satan. Its just like satan is the father of lies and The Holy Spirit is The Spirit of Truth, so if we lie we are serving satan and if we speak the truth we are serving God. but there is more to it. Why did satan come after Jesus that way. The first temptation was that of Jesus desires. He was very hungry. satan will tempt you by your desires. How do you respond? With Gods words. Man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceed out of the mouth of the living God. You can say Just that and it covers every sin of desire, or you could say if your being tempted to look at a woman, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery. Get it.

In that first temptation what other desires were tested. satan said if you be the Son of God... desire of pride, challenge of Faith, temptation to be arrogant. in other words satan was trying to create an ego in Jesus. Also the desire for Jesus to do His own will and not God's will. So look at the response now. Man shall not live by bread alone, but every word that proceed out of the mouth of the living God. Jesus submitted to The Father yet again. See how profound that one test is.

The second test. satan took Jesus to the high point on the temple and said jump down for it is written you will not hurt your foot He will send His angels and they will hold you. Jesus said it is also written Thou shall not put the Lord God to the test. DO you see what satan did there Misdirection. he tried to use Jesus understanding of God's word against Him. This is why it is important to know God's word, you must study hard get in school and study it not just on the internet. The Chinese say if you want to learn something first seek out the best teacher, because as Jesus said a student can not be greater than his teacher. So Jesus is the teacher, but also find the best men or women to teach you. So satan tried to use Jesus faith against Him, he tried to use Jesus to sin by putting God to the test, a test which would not have happen because God would not be tested. Do you ever find your self calling God to do something and you built your faith up and then it goes all wrong and is horrible, well were you testing God? so the enemy will come at us in times of trouble to use us to test God, to drive a wedge. How did Jesus respond with The commandment Thou shall not put God to the test. Study hard you will be tested.

3rd satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms the world, and said he would give all them to him if he worshiped him. Jesus said you shall worship God and only God, get out of here satan. Riches, power, every temptation of the world Jesus was being tempted with. What did He respond with, The commandment from the Bible. The word of God is what He used in all 3 cases. The words Jesus spoke Get Out of Here satan. Jesus use the Bible to speak all the way up to get out of here satan. You should never use your own words unless those words are get out of here satan. Are we stronger than Jesus? This is what Jesus did, He used the Bible, God's word, and then cast out satan. Our words can not stand but God's words will never fall or fail. If you start using your own words trying to out wit the enemy you will lose, because your trying to fist fight in a sword fight. God's word is the sword of God. So how do you speak to satan? you don't, you quote God and cast out the enemy.

Joyce Meyer is a false teacher. Beware of her.

"How to speak to Satan"? NOT AT ALL.

Nowhere in Scripture are Christians advised to speak to Satan.

How does one RESIST the Devil? With the Sword of the Spirit -- the Word of God (Eph 6:17).

THAT IS PRECISELY HOW CHRIST DEALT WITH SATAN IN THE WILDERNESS.

We have no power over Satan, only the Lord Jesus Christ has power over Satan. Christ has the Authority, not I.
I rely on Christ for his protection from Satan`s cunning and trickery.
Indeed Joyce Meyer is; well `Beware` of the subtle message that is being spoken, there is a lie hiding within the Word of Faith message.

Amen. And that is precisely why the LORD said to Satan (Zech 3:2) "The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan", and that is also why Michael the Archangel said to Satan "The LORD rebuke thee" (Jude 9).

In the Lord Jesus Christ name by His Authority power is given. Yet I as a man can do nothing against Satan and Demons. We cannot just say "Devil be gone", we need to state by what Authority is given that the Devil be gone. That Authority is the name `Jesus Christ.` I cannot say in the name of Jason "Devil be gone." I am helpless and by using my own name I am not acknowledging Christ` powerful name and Authority.

Bob and Job you are mistaken. Did Jesus not give His disciples power over satan and Jesus Himself said He saw satan fall like lighting from the sky. Jesus has given His child authority over every demon and yes even satan.
And yet we do not find a single apostle addressing Satan in Scripture. Think about that.
And then Paul tells us that Satan hindered him (1 Thess 2:18), and he also tells married couples not to abstain from conjugal relationships too long, "that Satan tempt you not" (1 Cor 7:5). The power is in Christ, since greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. Scripture says RESIST the Devil, not REBUKE the Devil.

did you even read my thread i never said to speak with satan unless to cast him out. Sounds like satan worship to me. Fact Jesus disciples did in fact cast out satan. Yes power is God's alone, but He has given us authority in Christ, and it's called Faith. Fact any one who uses Jesus name has power over a spirit even those not saved see mat 7:21 Because Jesus name alone has power. If a person has faith in Jesus and the authority He has given them, they can cast out demons even satan. and if they have enough faith they can heal the sick and raise the dead as Jesus did, or do you forget Jesus said we would do even greater miracles? 1st Paul said it's best not to marry but if you can not control your self better to marry then burn with lust. 2nd Jesus said resist satan and He will flee from you, get that flee from you. Yes Jesus did say to rebuke satan when He sent out his disciples He said cast out every demon, and they even cast out satan as i said above and will say again Jesus saw satan fall like lighting from the sky. It is a lie to say we do not have authority, Jesus died to give us that authority. Its authority in Christ yes, oh i get it, you don't complete understand what i am say oh ok.

Bob why are you even arguing? because you don't understand. Fact is even those not saved use Jesus name to cast out spirit but if you are saved you have authority that Christ has given all His children. If this is not so why did God say our battle was with powers and principalities in the heavens, 2 ranks of angels, why is our battle with them if we have not already been given authority by Christ. You think Paul said in the name of Jesus Christ every time he cast out a spirit? Got news for you he did not. The demons new Paul name even. When two men casting out demons said in the name of Paul Jesus be gone, the demon said Paul I know and Jesus I know but who are you, and the demon beat and strip the men naked and they went running off in terror, because they were not saved. The demon recognized the authority given to Paul by Jesus. Your right though you can not cast out demons your not at that level, but don't say others who are at that level can not do it because you can not. Just what do you think it means to be written in the book of life? find a good teacher and study.

joyce meyer said in a sermon if the devil is going to speak to you, you better learn how to speak back.

If anyone addresses stan directly then he has their attention, which is what he wants.

It is far better under such circumstances to give God our attention, and to address him directly. It is certainly not safe to start a conversation with stan; it is not likely to end well.

If this is not in line with Baptist teaching do let me know. I would be very surprised, though.

Sounds to me that is just what Joyce Meyer was teaching. When satan tempts you, speak the Word of God, just like Jesus did.

Scripture says RESIST the Devil, not REBUKE the Devil.
Again, that is what Joyce Meyer said. Don't rebuke satan, even Michael didn't. She said speak the Word of God.

I'm not WOF, but when there is a good teaching, a Biblical teaching, I'm not going to dismiss it because I don't particularly care for the messenger or all of their particular beliefs. I don't like Calvinism either, but you couldn't get a much better preacher than Charles Spurgeon. Nope, God got pretty angry with the guys who killed the messengers.

I'm not a fan of Joyce Meyers at all, or even the type really. I prefer old school, Christ centered preaching rather then a lot of the newer age which tends to put man at the center.

But I do feel like a lot of what she says is taken out of context, just to attack her. I was interested to see what it was all about, so I took the time to look through a few websites with people in a grievance with what she preaches and to be perfectly honest, what I saw is pretty much all pettiness.

This is really interesting? The way I wrote it you it was not clear what joyce said and what I was correcting her on people thought the whole thing was from her and rejected it. In fact I was correcting her, she said one line in that which was you better learn how to speak to satan he runs my husband down and i say yeah but he is this. That is what She said, I was correcting her, does that make a difference how you view the message?

I would suggest that you do not say someone said something and mix it all up with your corrections. How confusing for your reading audience.
When quoting someone put "quotation marks" and indicate that it is paraphrased, around what they said. It would be helpful. So now I have no idea what she said at all. Now I see that you were merely telling us what you understood her to say and if there are any quotes that are paraphrased by you (which I thought was the case) they may only be her partial statements taken out of context. Sigh....
