I just got called a "secular humanist" in another forum because I suggested that there are similarities among the world's religions that would be more profitable to cultivate than the current divisiveness. It's amazing how all people can do is quote scripture at you.

By the way, I'm not a secular humanist. I'm humanist in some of my thinking, but not in the mode of that organization, which has some bigotry of its own.

It's scary how many people are killed every day because of religion.

Forums tend to attract the strong viewpoints on many sides. I find that the uh... "passion" for beliefs and opinions I see here on CF are not entirely reflective of the real world. I would not base your definition of what being a Christian truly means on the opinions of people on an internet forum.

Of course we have to remember.... Christ was tortured and Executed for being a wacko that held completely opposite views to the establishment at the time. (If their minds anyways). They called him a heretic, which sums it up.

I wonder what they think when they read about Christ's interaction with the Pharisees in the Gospels. The conservatives sound exactly like them. They would have been the first to condemn Christ for healing somebody on the Sabbath. And ignorant person can learn. A stupid person is dead set against it.

Or just hang out at our little corner of the board! I could tell you that you're going to hell for not being a good enough Christian, but I no longer believe in a literal hell, so that would be a bit problematic Maybe we'll both just be darned to heck, Dilbert-style, where we can poke each other with spoons for all eternity.

I think it does matter which part of the board you go to. I haven't encountered too many idiots on CF, but that's probably because I mostly hang out here and in the Presbyterian forum, where there are nice people. I try to avoid hanging out in the places with the idiots, since I figure my time would be better spent on my moderator duties at another forum and playing World of Warcraft
