Oh and don't blush on my behalf.   I may be a 'cyber-flirt' every now and then, but I'm really quite harmless. 

I just really like genuinely pro-life people because they're a rare breed, unfortunately.

I'm conservative, pro-life, pro-family, but on some issues (aid for the poor, stronger penalties for/safeguards against corporate crime/fraud, the abolition of the death penalty) I differ greatly from Republicans and American Independents.

IMHO, Enron, WorldCom, and the like should be considered no better, and quite possibly much worse, than pickpockets and burglars.

Have you noticed it's not about being pro-life anymore? It's anti-choice now. They want to make us seem as hateful and awful as possible...why don't we start calling liberals pro-murder? I think it's a GREAT idea!

The alternative stance to "pro-life" should not be titled "pro-choice" but "pro-murder." If a person believes that it is not wrong for others to murder people that are out of the womb, they are not called "pro-choice." Yet, people that support abortion are called, simply, "pro-choice". . .

Anyways, I just turned 18 back in June so I am not politically active yet. But I am conservative, pro-life, pro-family, anti-death penalty(inmates have MUCH less time to hear of Jesus and become born-again); I think that welfare is a good thing to have available, for certain citizens(as long as it can not be abused too easily); I do not like public education so that is not an issue; enviromental issues. . .well, we do have dominion over the earth, so that is a point that I do not look at in a candidate.

So it depends on the qualifications of the candidate (i.e. their reputation, beliefs, where they stand on the issues, etc.) and not on their affiliation (or lack thereof) with any particular political party. Not all Republicans have the same beliefs, neither do Democrats, Independents, or Libertarians. It is best to examine each candidate and decide which candidate is more aligned with your beliefs on the issues.

Aside from voting, what are some good, legal, and Christian ways to be politically active?

Then what is abortion? More people are killed through abortion than through the military.

And, by the way, the military protects, it doesn't murder... war is not an unchristian idea in and of itself, I don't think.

IMHO, The American Government (the Canadian government, the British government, the Afghan government, the Iraqi government, the Japanese government, etc, etc, ad infinitum, ad naseum) should be considered no better, and quite possibly much worse, than armed robbers.

The main reason I don't vote can be found at the very beginning of the second article:

1. My voting would be reprehensible.

I believe that its reprehensible to to take money from strangers and use it for your own purposes. The average person would regard this statement with bewilderment because he sees the state as an inevitability. He believes that nothing is certain but death and taxes.EWe, however, know that there were other forms of social organization in the past and can imagine future societies without government. We see that the state is nothing more than those people who hold the monopoly on the acceptable use of violence. We know that they use this violence to take money from some people and give it to others. Is it not reprehensible to use violence to compel people to perform or refrain from certain activities? This is the essence of the law, and I am too good to use violence except in the most extreme circumstances.

I pay taxes, but only because the government will come for me if I don't.  Paying taxes is a way for me to avoid violence done to me.  I regret that my taxes are used for violence, but until the day comes when I won't be at risk of violence if I don't pay, I will keep on paying.

I read an editorial once by a guy who is along the same political lines as me who argued that since the US Government uses tax money to kill people, he moved to a country without a military.  He still has to pay taxes, but that money is not used for (as much) violence as US taxes are used for.

I disagree, however.  Both are a case of someone robbing part of one's hard earned money at gunpoint, one has no moral responsibility if that money is used for immoral acts.

So this thread is a little old now... but hey, i wanted to have my say, and see who's toes I could tickle!

I am politically active (i guess)

I vote...although I've only been old enough to vote once. And I vote because It seems to be the only chance I get to have my say!
I support socialist parties and the greens. (ooooooo)

I have attended a few rallies on things that I feel passionate about (No war on Iraq, Freedom for refugees, Anti-Uranium Mining, and against a second nuclear reactor in Sydney (Australia).

I believe in peace and equal rights for race, women, religion, refugees etc.

The liberal and labour parties in this country are disgustingly bad (although I live on the bible belt of sydney where they worship the liberals feet.) All that Liberals stand for here are "economy and national security" and personally I think that is a load of poop. The labor party are practically the same.
