  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have a slight problem and I was hoping you present military folk/military veterens could help me out.

I have this dude and he is dating a sister and well he says that he is a green beret as well as a army pilot. Is this possible? He is only 21.

I was just wondering if you think his claims are real, and whether the timing for a green beret to train and if there is any enlistment requirements if you decided to serve on an elite unit such as the green berets.

Thanks for your time.

To be an army pilot you must be a warrent officer. I know that training takes at least 6 months... to be a pilot, prolly like a year or more... I think. To be a green beret, I heard it would take 2 years of training, but that time seems a bit high.

It may be possible. Doubtful, but possible.

As I understand it.

The SF soldier as popularly thought of, is part of an A team.
They are specialized in 1 field, but are extensively cross trained in at least one other MOS's.
They are usually fluent in a foriegn language.
They constantly train to hone their skills and maintain jump status.
Why the Army would want to take a young Green Beret and train him to be a pilot is somewhat of a mystery to me.
I suppose it is possible, after all John Rambo did it.
And if he were older it could be that he re-enlisted and moved from one job to another.
Still the Gov. pays a lot to train both of these fields and they are not really well meshed.

What is more possible.

There are soldiers in SF units that wear the beret but not the flash.
They are the various SF support personel.
Aviation could well be attached to an SF command and those guys could wear a green beret.
But the insignia on the beret is different.
I think it is the background on the badge is different or missing.
Also on his shoulder tabs there should be a flash for special forces and of course a jump or master jump badge on the front.
You could possibly ask his unit or try to leave him a message there...
If he isn't assigned they may well out him to you for faking what they earned.
Besides the previously mentioned URL
There are SF member websites they might assist you with specifics.
