How much (if any) of God's Word should Christians ignore?

Some say - it is ok to ignore Daniel and Revelation... they use symbols after all.
Some say - it is ok to ignore the entire Old Testament.. we are under the New Covenant after all
Some say - it is ok to ignore the OT AND all of the Gospels - the describe events before the cross - after all

Some say - it is ok to ignore the OT AND the Gospels AND the book of Acts until the Christian age was fully established...

Others say that all the miracles in the Bible are myth - and the Bible is not a trustworthy document of "historic fact" rather it is religious "themes" - some "good ideas" without taking the details seriously of course.

By contrast

"ALL scripture is given by inspiration from God AND is to be used for doctrine" 2 Tim 3:16

" but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Pet 1:19-21

By contrast if we pay attention to ALL of scripture - what is the "error" that you think that would result in? (if any)

And what is the danger of selecting out sections of scripture "to ignore"?

==============================

So for example just taking the first "attempt to delete/ignore" given in the OP.
(Daniel and Revelation)

Christ quoted Daniel and Daniel 9 predicts the first coming of Christ so that the Jews could be fully ready for it - on time.

As for Revelation...

Consider the following scenario

=================
Our current place in the last half of the book of Revelation -

We are in Rev 14 about half way and also half way through Rev 13.

These two chapters describe the same period of time only one is from the POV of the saints (Rev 14) and the other is from the POV of world powers (Rev 13).

Rev 15:8 has the close of probation for all mankind - still future
Rev 16 - has the 7 last plagues (still future) they happen just prior to the 2nd coming of Christ.
Rev 19 - is the second coming. (still future)
Rev 20 is the 1000 years that starts with the "First resurrection" which takes place at the 2nd coming. (all of it future)
It ends with the lake of fire - where all of earth is consumed as 2 Peter 3 predicts.

Rev 21 is the Earth "remade" - recreated - the New Earth.

=================

There are a number of lists of 7's in the book of revelation and several of them take you from John's day all the way to the time of the second coming.

All of the 7's end with events at the second coming.

================

Ignoring the messages God sends pertaining to the end of the world - is like ignoring the Genesis 6 message about the end of the world by a flood - according to 2 Peter 3.

Ignore? No. Read in the light of the Holy Spirit and the fact that there is a new covenant? Yes.

It is “OK” (a nebulous term) to ignore all of the Bible. There is no “Scripture Knowledge Test” that is part of the requirements for admission to Heaven. The criteria presented in Matthew 7:23 is "Does Jesus know you?”

As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:23 “All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify.”, so it is permissible to ignore all of Scripture, but all of scripture has something in it to benefit a growing believer (which is any believer that is still on this side of eternity).

I wouldn't ignore any of it. There is something to be learned from the old testament.

I read every single word of it and love the entire thing. There is MUCH to be learned, that will convict the reader, and it is all the Word of God. Christians should read the entire Bible. Some of my favorite readings are in Habakkuk, Jonah, Joel, Nahum, and more from the Old Testament.

With that being said....

Not all of the Bible is applicable to me, personally, as a New Testament Christian.

I absolutely LOVE Leviticus 14 as is it a foreshadowing of the death of Christ - however, having a priest slaughter birds over a pot of water when I recover from a skin condition is NOT for the New Testament Christian. Nevertheless, the reading of that passage is powerful to me as it points to Christ and his death.

As a woman in the Old Testament, you were barred from touching anyone during your menstrual cycle and anything or anyone you touched was unclean until sundown. Unclean does not mean dirty and definitely not sinful but that like men having discharges like nocturnal emissions being unclean for a period of days or hours served to remind that God is holy and we are not.

Today, if a woman is having her period, she can do anything she pleases. Go to church, sit on the pews, teach Sunday School, put money in the offering, cook a meal - nothing is restricted. Why? Because these laws pointed the way to Christ and the cleansing power of his blood AND because Christ has fulfilled the purpose of the law - they do not apply.

BUT, I love reading about them and Christians should read about them and learn why God had his people live this way.

We can not ignore any of it. The entire Old Testament ,aka the Torah, lays down in writing the prophetic messages that point to Jesus Christ of Nazareth as the Messiah. There are millions of people including Jews and Muslims that are comming to Christ based on the scripture of the Old Testament all the way through the New Testament providing proof of the fullfilment of those prophecies through the finished work of Jesus Christ of Nazareth .
To ignore this fact is somewhat short sighted. Blessings!
