Sorry, Bud, but you are wrong about your Biblical facts.

The Catholic Bible is NOT a "modified" Protestant Bible.

The New Testament is IDENTICAL for all CHRISTIANS. Period.

Please do NOT continue to perpetuate this falsehood.

Denominations like the Catholics,Jehovahs' Witneses,Mormans and others have their own versions of the bible,baiscally 1st they got a T.R. originated bible then modified it for their own faith,there are diffrences between them.

It's a slight faux pas to lump Catholics in the same category and pseudo-Christians such as JWs and Mormons. And they did not modify the Bible to fit their own faith. You have that in reverse.

I'm not erring.

We all have a "works based" salvation.
We all are diffrent are we not?
We all pray diffrently thats why Christanity has denomonatons.

Denominations are not Right or Wrong they are made for people who pray in their own perspective.

I said both Bibles originated off the same Latin traslated Bible:The Textus Receptus.

Obviously 1st came the Catholic version then came the Protestans version.

I apologize if I did'nt explain myself clearly enoiugh.

I believe the quote was " I myself used to be a Catholic but left it about 6 months ago because of how should I say- non-Hebrew/Bible elements,the Roman elements(they have their own version of the Bible) which are the various differences between the denominations."

And...

That is not true Hector...the Mormons believe that God was once a regular human like you and I....they also believe that Jesus and Satan were brothers - related. I do not know what JW's believe - but I can tell you that your comment was biased by lumping Catholics in with Mormons and JW's.

Catholics do not share anything in common with those two groups.

Celibacy for priests
Mass
Papacy
Holy
Sacraments
Canon Laws
etc............

There are many things denominations do that others don't have listed in their versions of whatever.

They come from the Catholic perspective off the scriptures.
But they are not stated word for word its you take them to belief.

I'm not saying it is bad I'm just pointing out the diffrences,we all understand the scripture differently.

JW's deny the Trinity and from what I've heard.... when you visit their temple they hide your shoes so that you cannot easily leave. That is enough for me to know.

It never ceases to amaze me how "former Catholics" have no clear understanding of what the church teachs, preaches and believes. They don't know anything about Sacred Traditon and Sacred Scripture and how they figure into the whole picture of the Catholic Church.

 

Hector...we have to start from the beginning - Catholicism 101 and gain an understanding of what Catholicism teaches before we can do a comparitive study on the other denominations.

Catholics may INTERPRET the Scriptures differently from other denominations, but they in no way have MODIFIED the Bible to "support" their beliefs.

Lamb, I didn't mean any harm. I am just speaking to what I learned in Catholic school..considering the fact I went to one for 10 yrs. I cannot speak on whether certain Catholics know about their faith or not..but to correct you..being Catholic is not a religion. It's a sect of Christianity. Christianity is the religion..Catholicsm is a sect in it...as a matter of fact Catholics started the basis for what you know as the church. Protestants branched off from the Catholic church.. And there is no disputing that since I am sure tons of Catholics (including myself, though I am not Catholic) could prove to you this is accurate.

I cannot say I have seen what you have seen of Catholic people. The one's I have ran into that are actual participants in their faith..not those just claiming Catholism and not living it...have been very knowledgable of their faith and have been consistent with the Catechism and the Pope.

Two prime examples are right here on this board: KC Catholic and VOW...

Michelle, you are correct that JW's do not believe in the Trinity. It is not accurate that they hide your shoes when you come into the Hall (it's called a Hall..not a temple). Anyway, I am not a JW but my husband's brother and his wife are JW's and I have visited the local JW Hall in my town several times..and never have been asked or even noticed anyone removing their shoes. LOL! But that is a funny joke..
