How long have you been a Christian....just curious because I have been a Christian for 10+ years and I am just getting through this for the first time. Wondering if that is odd or not.
I've been a Christian for 15 years but I've not always been this earnest.

I was reading Psalm 40 when the Lord saved me. That night I read Isaiah, the next night, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Then Genesis and Acts. That was the first week in January 1987. Since then, I have read the Bible hundreds of times, and have wore out four.

I ask the Lord to show me what to read. One day, I may read in Psalms, the next Jude, or Haggai. Over the past almost 19 years, I have found my daily readings of the Bible to be manna for the soul.

In my experience, many Christians don't read and study the word. They will on Sunday at church. I wrote this poem about the Bible:

More Well Worn Bibles

The world needs more well worn Bibles on its' tables
The Bible contains words of life and truth but no fables
People need to read and study these words of old
They are more precious than jewels and the finest gold

The Bible is the best selling book of all books
But sadly most are only used just for looks
Answers to life's questions are found in its' pages
But most people think the answer to life is higher wages

People need to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations
Fascinating stories are recorded of life and its' tribulations
The words of the Bible give hope and promises of tomorrow
When the whole world will be free from pain and sorrow

A well worn tear stained Bible tells an unique story
Of its' owner and his walk with Jesus on the way to glory
Those passages of scripture that are marked in ink
Was living water for that thirsty person to drink

I'm asking you some questions, be honest with me
Do you read your Bible or is it only for others to see?
Is your Bible well worn or is it gathering dust?
Do you fully believe in Jesus and in Him trust?

I've been Christian for around 3-4 years in total....I drifted away from God for several years but have been following Him again for the past year and a half.

Never" I read the bible when I need guidance:I get very confused when I read the Bible,But I still try to read it.My Husband Has read the bible three times:

The beautiful thing about living in 2005 is that there are endless versions of the Bible. Maybe you just need to find one that is easy to understand. I have found my favorite are the study bibles because they have all the extra details of background and interpretation right with the scriptures. The Life Applications bibles are wonderful. I started with the New Living Translation and since purchased a New International Version so that I can begin memorizing scriptures. Good Luck and never give up. Pray that God will give you the wisdom to understand what he needs for you to learn.

some books of Scripture I have read many times, others only once or twice.

This will be my answer after the end of the year. I plan to read NT over and over...but why will I really need to reread Numbers????? At this point I don't have use for it...but maybe in my studies! Thanks for the input!

I've read almost all of the NT & More than half of the OT..

Some books I've read more than once..

I was saved in 2001.. But I do need to delve more seriously into the Bible.. I read all kinds of other Christian Books on prayer.. healing.. praise & worship.. I need to be spending more time in God's Manual.. :)

I'm determined to finish. When little ones come along I don't know if I'll be able to balance everything well enough.

We need to make to sure to keep God as our number one responsiblity and that means staying in his Word. Nap time is my favorite time to get my reading done. Its quiet! Good Luck!

To be honest, I haven't even read the whole bible once. I don't believe I've ever even read one whole chapter, maybe close to the whole thing, but never the whole thing. I read bits here and there, but I do that alot during the day. I go all around in the bible. Though actually, sad enough, I think thats pretty good for my age group. I mean, I know people that don't even own a bible who claim the are Christian. But, by no means, does that lower my standards for reading it more. I better get moving. ;)
