How many Christians will be saved?

All humanity will see God’s salvation.~Luke 3:6

The Lord’s glory will appear,
and all humanity will see it together;
the Lord’s mouth has commanded it.~Isaiah 40:5

"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."~ 1 Cor. 15:22

In other words, God was reconciling the world to himself through Christ, by not counting people’s sins against them. He has trusted us with this message of reconciliation.~2nd Cor 5:19

We need to go beyond selected passages to all the evidence.

Jesus talks about the narrow gate. He also says not everything who says Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom.

But he also says “anyone who comes to me I will never drive away,” and that his yoke is light. And of course his desire to forgive us is well known.

His parables about judgement don’t involve people doing superhuman tasks. Rather, those who are rejected are those who haven’t done anything that would matter to someone else, or those who are actively abusing or persecuting people.

It’s clear that Jesus didn’t believe in universalism, nor even that everyone in the Church will be saved. But I don’t think we have enough evidence to say that many or most Christians will be rejected. I would suggest that these passages should be read as a challenge to us to live our faith, and not as attempts to tell us how many will be saved.

It's amazing to me how many of us take to ourselves responsibilities which have not been granted to us. Determining the number of the saved, and the conditions under which the saved might consider themselves saved, is a task not left in our sinful, self-centered, self-righteous hands. However, it does belong to each of us to determine whether each of us, personally, is saved. We measure ourselves, not others.

Here's one personal test: "if YOU confess with YOUR mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in YOUR heart that God raised Him from the dead, YOU will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" Romans 10:9-13 ESV

As to the number of those who fit into this description, here is one inspired number: "After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, 'Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
"And he said to me, 'These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Revelation 7:9-10, 14. ESV

The victory of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, over the principalities and powers of darkness is not a hollow one -- He wins the majority.

You didn't phrase the question correctly I believe..... the disciples were called christians at antioch so anyone who is a christian like them will be saved.


I think you should made the question this... "do you believe everyone who claims/believes they are a christian will be saved", that's a whole different question then.... "do you believe all christians will be saved".


Now if you are really asking is everyone who claims to be a christian will be saved the answer is no.

THe bible indicates heaven is around 1,500 square miles and also there's this

Also there has never been a period of time in the bible where a preponderance of the individuals were true christians or in the OT true believers.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." John 10:27-29

Are you talking about Christians who are actually real Christians, or ones who simply wear the name and label...?

The former is "all", the second is some...

A Christian who is a Christian in their heart will be saved...

Which only God Knows and can judge... We cannot and should not, lest we sacrifice our being a true Christian ourselves...

As to how many this will be, again, only God can know... We cannot...

Agreed. All flesh = BOTH Jews and Greeks, IOW, the Lord's salvation is not restricted to Jews only. "All flesh", at least in this case, cannot mean all "individuals" w/o exception, as such a thought would contradict what the Bible clearly teaches us concerning salvation.

Also agreeing with Gill and St. Luke, that "the salvation of God" is "the Messiah" (at least it certainly is here in Luke).

what do you mean by "saved"? Do you mean going to heaven when you die? Theres a lot of ppl before christianity that is in heaven, according to the bible.

That one is kinda a set-up, the point being that none is worthy of him, and that's not really the ultimate point either, but a point leading up to a point, that regardless of our unworthiness, he see's us as worthy despite all of that being unworthy nonsense that precedes being able to understand how he see's us...

He was telling the truth, but it was a truth that required the right perspective or key, to lead to another truth he desperately wanted us all to grasp about him...

Mainly the height, depth, and breadth and width of great, great Love for us... Both are required to understand it...

What is a Christian?

Well all white people are not, because they are white Christian.
All nice polite people are not automaticly Christian.

Christians are those who believe Jesus is their Lord and Saviour and who's life style shows this.

So All Christians will be saved.

Can we possibly know who is a true Christian, from ones that are not...? Or not...?

We don't need to determine who is or who isn't a Christian.
If someones life shows they are living by Christian principals accept them, someone who is asking questions and whose life style isn't Christian accept them.
As Aslan says in the narnia stories,' Child you are only told your story.'

Many people reject God's salvation, here they blaspheme the truth when told the truth and the apostles tell them they consider themselves unworthy of eternal life, but those who did receive Christ were born of God as they had been prior appointed by the Father to eternal life and so believed. Jesus taught that all those the Father gives to Him will come to Him. And those who come to Him he will never cast away.
John 6:37

What happened in Acts 13 is what is written in John 1 and John 3, they were not born of their will, they were born of God.
John 1
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 3
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

1 John 5

All Christians will be saved. Not all people who go to church are born-again disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, (although perhaps they think they are).

by definition, all Christians will be saved. The definition of a Christian is one who is saved.
