How many at once?

How many stories or projects do/can you handle at one time? i have one that's my major focus, and an outline that's really coming together. the rest of my jotted ideas are off to the side - i'm afraid to overload myself and never get anything done. what do you guys tend to do? do you prefer just one project at a time, or do you dabble in different things? what are your multitasking strategies? do tell...

i usually have two somethings going at once. sometimes i start a third or even a fourth. what i write in depends on what i come up with. sometimes i have great ideas for one and nothing for the others. when i just have two i'm only serious about one and the other is kind of like a dump zone most of the time. i have a small stack of short stories (no more than 2,000 words most of the time) that i've written during my novel sprees. they consist of story dreams i've had or funny things that have happened to me that i've embellished to make them even more outrageous while still keeping them realistic. most of the time i write to blow off steam so i might not be a good person to ask.

I have lots going on at a time, but then again I never finish anything. lol. I guess that doesn't help you much then. I get too bored with any one thing so I couldn't just have one thing going at a time. I probably have multiple things going on because I can't finish anything rather than the other way around.
