How long, it depends on the person, for some 1 day for others 5 years. Doctors usually don't want to do anything until it has been one year.

What things can you do? Learn you body, watch for signs of fertility. Take pre-natals, stop doing things that are bad for your body. Pray for God's will & timing.

10 days well for some for others it is a longer period of time, It depends on your cycles. Everyone is different. That is why learning about your cycles is good it tells you the best time to have sex. The best thing if aren't sure that the whole temping thing and such is for you is to have sex every other day up until about 9-10 days before your next expected period. I would not do that for the long term though it can start making sex seem like a chore instead of love-making. If you learn about your body you can narrow you fertile time down alot. I personally learned alot taking the free e-mail course on www.fertilityfriend.com

The stats that I have heard are that 25% of couples will fall in the first month of trying, 60% by 6 months, 75% by 9 months and 80% by one year. I've also heard that every month you have a 20% chance of falling pregnant. One factor which will affect your chances is age, the younger you are the easier it is.

Personally, with my first child I fell pregnant the first cycle we were able to try, now I am hoping for a second (we miscarried our first in February) It has been three months and still no luck:sigh:.

What can you do to improve your chances? Have a good and balanced diet, get some exercise (basically be healthy), be relaxed, and learn how to identify your fertility. Before we could have children we used NFP (the Billings method) to avoid pregnancy, so we are familiar with identifying fertility by cervical mucous. You can also use temperature, or ovulation predictor kits.

Most of your cycle you are infertile, most people will have about five days of fertility per cycle. When this happens will depend on how long your cycles are. Most people ovulate 14 days before their period arrives. So if your cycle is 28 days long, you will begin to be fertile on about cycle day 10 and ovulate on cycle day 14. If your cycles are 35 days long you will ovulate on day cd 21 and begin fertility on cd 17. Why do I talk about fertility as something different to ovulation? Your body starts to produce mucous essential to conception (it means your cervix is no longer acidic - so sperm can live, and it creates a path for the sperm to travel along which directs them to the egg once it's there) about3 or 4 days before you ovulate. It gets thicker as you get closer to ovulation. You can conceive by having sex on any of these days, but the best day for conception is the day you ovulate. It is the day with the most mucous, after you ovulate your mucous will dry up and you will go back to normal. Having sex everyday can make it hard to identify the beginning of your fertility, so it is recommended that you have sex every second evening between your period and your fertile time so that you can see it coming. After that of course you can have sex as often as you like.;)

I think it is important to identify when you are fertile and no go by averages. If I were to follow the Calendar Method, or the Rhythm Method as it used to be called, I would not be having sex at the right times. That is, it wouldn't work for me and my body - so I would recommend finding out whether it would work for you and your body before relying on it. Assuming ovulation occurs on cd 14 is not considered a reliable method of birth control, so why consider it reliable when trying to conceive? If you have no luck after a few months I would consider learning Billings from an instructor.

I hope this is helpful.

how long does it typically take to fall pregnant?

what things can i do to increase chances of falling pregnant?

is it true that having sex 10 days before your periods are due is the best time to TTC?

I didn't know that you could 'fall' pregnant???? I thought you had to have sex to get pregnant?

I'm sorry, I'm a bit bitter right now, but for some it's just not that easy as 'falling pregnant'. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for almost 2 years now and I wish it was as easy as 'falling'.
