  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

44 hours with contractions 2 minutes apart the whole time. Ended in a c-section because I stopped progressing at 9 cm, and her head was on my left hip the whole time.

Edited to add: I got an epidural after 36 hours due to the pain getting so bad and I was not able to relax any more, though that could have been my mother.

18 hours, but I believe it would have been about 14 and textbook had I not gotten an epidural in the 12th hour, which slowed labor down for a while (pretty typical). I actually liked that length labor because things were progressing not too fast not too slow. Although it was overnight so that part was no good.

all of mine was in the hospital because my doctor told me that if I didn't go into labor on my own by the next visit then he was going to induce me (I was a week overdue with Emily) and so next time I came back she was still in there so he told me to go eat and go straight to the hospital. That was so exciting, the lady at McDonald's was like "oh how far along are you" I told her "41 weeks, I'm going to be induced after I eat! I'm gonna have a baby next time you see me!" We got in the delivery room at about 3pm (that room scared me so bad, I wanted to cry when I walked in because reality was setting in) and they didn't start my drip til 7pm that evening...I guess you could count from 3pm on because I was dialated a little and was contracting according to that machine thing, but couldn't feel them...so I guess mine would actually be 20 hours.

This thread scares me ^_^ I had no idea that labor could last that long. Now, for that time, how much of it was spent in the hospital?

Its not that bad, its a slow build up. During the first part you'll still be smiling, talking between little contractions that make you pause. My husband and I have considered that if things go as slow next time maybe we'll go to a movie until things get moving. Gotta do something to pass the time.

28 hours of labor and then 2 hours of pushing. keep in mind i got induced 5 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia so the baby did NOT want to come out! Also keep in mind they had me on an IV and wouldnt let me get out of bed at all. AND keep in mind they had me on magnesium sulfate so i wouldnt have seizures..but it slows down the labor progress. so..dont even look at my situation..LOL

I hope this one is to term, but I am scared of having a "real" labor. I remember saying some pretty silly things when I was in labor with robert... active labor. 1st was when I called mom and dad to let them know it was time...(I had told my dad he could be there if he wanted) anyway my little brother answered the phone... I said let me talk to mom... he asked if I were ok, I said no...let me talk to mom... mom got onthe phone... I said it's time... my mom was like time? (she had just woken up, it was after midnight ) the baby mom it's time for the baby... ok...we'll be there in a few minuets.
the nurse asked me if I wanted anything I said I wanted to GO HOME...she told me I had to have the baby first...(I didn't actually mean I wanted to go home...I ment I wanted my husband...)
then there was... I have to go to the bathroom... the nurse asked if I had to pee... I said... NO< I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM!!!!!!!!!...they looked, and called for the dr... Robert was crowning.
if this labor is like that one it won't be too bad, my contractions weren't even regestering on the machine...that was the first night I used the call button. just finished watching wrestling, and I started feeling some pains, used the button... was like I think I am having contractions... the nurse came in ajusted the belt, and said she would be at the nurses station it push the button again if the pains got more regular, or painful. I called ken, he was at work, (wish I could have seen the expression on his face...) he said he was on his way... then about 10 minuets later I pushed that darn button like three times before they answered....OK THE PAIN IS GETTING WORSE!!!...still wasn't even registering on the monitor... but it was nothining like I expected, having been in the room a while while my sister was in labor... (she was grouchy,) the worse part was not having time for the local to kick in before the dr cut for the episiotomy...darn male dr... if my dr had not been on vacation she probly would have atleast given me a warning... I think that hurt more than the contractions....
