That you will see totally equal rights for gay and lesbian people in America within your lifetime? By this I mean gay hating/bashing only being a minority thing such as racists are seen in the eyes of the majority today.
I am only 16 and I for one really hope I will be seeing equal rights soon for not only homosexuals but for everyone. Even though I am very pro-Life, I am also a proud 110% supporter of gay rights.

I voted "Very likely; maybe within 10 years", though I doubt homophobia (gay bashing, bombings, etc) will be a minor issue any time soon. That said, I've never in my exceedingly long life (I'm almost 20! :'( ) encountered homophobia in the real world. Hmm...

Truthfully, I have no idea. There are definitely steps being made in the right direction towards equality in laws and some opinions.. but there is still a large number who don't want homosexuals to have equal rights and won't be swayed in their opinions.

Equal rights might happen at some point soon, in relation to marriage etc. but I don't think the homophobia will die for a very long time, if at all.

In the lifetime of my parents we have seen the end of segregation. The end of the right of the KKK to terrorize and attack people. we have seen the end of anti-misogyny laws. We have seen the end of the times when it was acceptable to imprison and sterilize the mentally retarded. We have seen the end of laws protecting rapists. the job of forging equality isn’t done. But there is hope

I seriously doubt it will be a reality any time soon, certainly not in our lifetimes (as the question states).

If you look at how long it took to obtain equal rights to blacks and women, and if you're being honest with yourself you'll have to agree that they still don't realy have equal rights.

If racial equality and gender equality took that long to achieve, my prediction is that sexual preference equality will take as long if not longer and we're only at the very start of that liberation while on the other two fronts we've come a long way already. It's unfortunate but it's true.

Yes likely, the secular will want a compromise but there will be a massive swing against the gay and lesbian movement's Christian bashing.
Yea, you're always hearing in the news about how gays and lesbians are tying innocent Christians to fences and beating them to a bloody pulp. That Matthew Shepherd is positively vicious!

Legally protected full equality for homosexuals is coming rapidly. It will be a reality within my lifetime, possibly within the next 10 years.

Prejudices against GLBT persons will never die, but like racism will be less and less tolerated by the larger society.

I don't know about America, but in general I think that from a legal point of view, we're moving ever closer to full equal rights for LGBTQ folk. I think that 10 years may be (sadly) a bit optimistic, but I think within 20 years could be a realistic forecast for basic equal rights.

Sadly, I think it'll take a lot longer for prejudice to be removed entirely. But we can pray.
