How large was the Aztec Empire?

I am curious if there are any Mesoamerican buffs in here. At the height of the Aztec empire, how large did it extend north and south of present day Mexico City?

hm.... good question. I dont know much bout it's boundaries north and south but I so think that it more than covered all of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Well when the Spaniards arrived the Aztec Empire at its heigh didn't stretch very far north or west of Mexico city/Tenochtitlan. A hundred miles maybe. To the east it stretched all the way to the coast and then up to the borders of the curren state of Veracruz. To the south it once again stretched to the coast and then as far west as the Balsas river. And to the south-east it stretched all the way to near what is the Mexican-Guatamalen border today. Their hold over the south-west portion of their empire was not very strong though, so some might not really consider it part of the Aztec Empire.

No, the Mayans were located in Central America around the modern day areas of the Yucutan, Southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras.

If I'm not mistaken, the Inca were south American, but the Maya were central America.

Mayans/Aztecs were both in and around Mexico and upper Central America.

The Incas held South America.
