I personally would have been better without my father. He isn't with us anymore and I hope I never see him again... It seems cruel but it is how I feel. God is my Father though, and I couldn't have ever lived without Him.

It seems so hard to say how I feel...
You were suppose to love me...
But you betrayed me...
You were suppose to protect me...
But you hurt me...
You were suppose to be a father...
But you were my torturer...
I ask myself what I did to deserve this pain...
I ask myself why I can't feel towards you...
If I resent you, if I hate you...
I am suppose to love you...
But now I don't know...
You were suppose to love me...
But what you did proved that you didn't...
I don't hate you, I don't resent you...
All I can do is love you...
No matter what you did...
God sees all sin the same...
And I guess I do also...
He is suppose to love me...
He does.
He suppose to protect me...
He does.
He suppose to be my Father...
He is.
Who are you?

for me, i did not have the best relationship with my earthly dad, with shortcomings.

i made up my mind to ask jesus to be my dad, i mean really the dad, like a rolemodel or what my earthly dad could not do.

i ask for love, thats all i needed.

it helped me about the trying times, when you are alone.

i am still getting to know my heavenly dad, reading scripture and letting the word sink into my heart and let the holy spirit minister.

i say it is very very important, for girls as well as for boys

fathers are not just for boys! lol.

agreed?

I have a civil relationship with my dad. I get along with him but don't talk to him that much. Yes, I do believe that it's crucial for children to have a father or a male role model in their lives.

My dad is one of my best friends. I don't think I would be a very good person without my dad their in my life I see my dadless fieinds and cousins and see what a difference a good dad makes. Now that I have left my parents' house a few years back I try and see him every Sunday just to spend time with Him and my mom. Fathers are very important in their childrens life, son or daughter.

Totally depends on if the guy (I hesitate to say "man") your mom married (or had you with) is a very "fatherly" guy.

My dad provides for his family, doesn't argue much with my mom, and more or less does what she tells him to. Goes to church weekly, plays nice with the little "going to church" ritual, 'n' all that and is a nice guy.
But frankly... he's a horrid father (though could be far worse).

Guys really oughta pick up Larry Crabb's The Silence of Adam. If your dad wasn't a good father, it'll likely help you; if your dad was a good father, it'll help you understand what your friends without good fathers have to deal with.

I believe having a stong christian father is very crucial in growing up. I,however, never had a relationship with my dad. He damaged alot of my life, its taken me awhile to forgive him. I don't ever want a relationship w/ him. I don't even like saying the word 'dad'.. God has brought me through many things. I am so happy that I married a Godly man that is a great father to our son!

My relationship with my Dad was very important growing up and is still very important as an adult. He set the example for me of how to expect men to treat me, provide me comfort and safety from harm, pushed me to always do more than I thought I ever could, showed me how a husband and father should love his wife and children. I could go on but I think you got the idea that I love my Dad. BTW - he's my dad not my father. Father is a much to formal term for the relationship that I have with him.

I hope that my daughters and son have such a connection to my husband/their dad as I have with my father.

I would not give anything in this world for the wonderful relationship that I have with my Dad. He has taught me what I should look for in a future husband, has led my family spiritually, and is the head of the household. I admire and love my Dad.

Probably one of the most important relationships in my whole life. There are very specific, very special things about me that can be directly linked to the father-daughter relationship in my life.

Consequently, though, I'm having a hard time finding anyone who measures up to my dad! I don't know if I will ever get married. :)
