Greetings!
I've been dating a woman for four years who'd been smoking at least three packs a day for close to 25 years. I'm not a smoker, but we connected and grew to care for each other very much, so I put up with her cigarettes.
She tried many times to quit smoking, but was unable to because she had such a fierce addiction. She prayed for God to take the habit from her. She prayed and prayed God would help her.
Earlier this year, we learned she has lung cancer. It had broken off and traveled to her brain and lymph nodes as well. As part of being prepared to have her brain tumor removed, she had a broncoscopy. When she came out of that, the doctor couldn't wean her off the oxygen he'd used while she was under, so he gave her a tank and sent her home.
That was March 24, 2005, and she hasn't smoked a cigarette since. PRAISE GOD!
She has had a very tough row to hoe. She pulled through the brain surgery, went through a very scary time in an emergency room due to a blood clot in her arm, and has been through radiation and chemo, among many other things she thought she'd be too weak to endure. PRAISE GOD, though, as she hasn't suffered more than she could bear. He's been true to His Word.
We find out next week how much progress she's made. She's been taking her oxygen off for brief periods of time and doing a little work around her house thanks to some renewed energy.
She experiences strong cravings some days and often finds herself reaching for cigarettes that are no longer there, so if you feel led, please pray for her. Her name is Brenda.
I'm posting this as a way of communicating how God answered her prayer. I pray that those of you who are caught up in the habit of smoking will find an easier way out. Rely on God and really mean it when you seek deliverance, and it will happen!
