I don't think we do. The majority of the population wants to legalize marijuana, for example. Doesn't mean it's going to happen.
It is happening, gradually. If it isn't true it's our own fault. Take a look at voter turnout rates and tell me different.

I didn't start voting until 2018. I simply had no faith in the system, which did and still does, seem to be rigged. That said, now that I have children, I must do something. Voting is the least of my actions.

Several States have already legalised and/or decriminalized marijuana. Last week Congress sent a bill through the house that also wants to federally legalise marijuana. There is evidence that its becoming likely. Depending on states that heavily rely on its criminalization for ecconomic reasons.

Certain minority-view factions continue to win.
This depends on whether you mean minority held issues, or minorities when discussing what has changed law here in the US. A lot of this stems from referencing the Bill of rights when petitioning expansions of current policy, or recognition as a formal group that provides them with protections.

So to consider that the government is still "of the People" I think is an illusion of granduer. It may have once been true, but it no longer is. We need to make it that way again though, if it ever truly was.
several solutions have been brought to Congress and the public square. One detrimental action that has effected the balances is corporations being seen as people, instead of just organizations with specific protections.

Yes, you must do something, but voting is where it starts.

Senate will never let it pass.

I don't mean "minority" like that.

Agreed. We need to ditch Citizens United. The two factions can find a few things they agree on. Getting money out of politics is one. The rich politicians will never allow it though.

While I don't agree with cwiter's views, I can understand the cynicism with the government. Especially if they're from North Carolina as the last page indicated, which has been rather infamously gerrymandered to benefit the class already in power rather than to best represent the people as a whole.

But change doesn't happen unless people get up and make it happen.

Depends on how you define “progressive”, I suppose. But I would say not really.

Just to be sure, I delve into the definition of Progressivism and its meaning. Thus far, everyone defines it basically the same.

They basically support the idea that "Obama care" IS in fact a "progressivism" movement. Though, I would not be surprised if you would even go further to debating this. No one likes being wrong. At least I looked into it just to be sure about its meaning. See for yourself on those sites. Or not. Take care.

This sort of thing has been going on for a while now it has just reached its apex. For years the media, democrats have been very loose branding many conservatives, republicans as "far right". These are folks that are simply dedicated Reagonites, Free market folks, Libertarian in philosophy etc. But at the same time considered people like Nancy Pelosi, AOC to be just regular democrats, folks that I would actually label "to the left", or far left for AOC (compared to more centrist democrats earlier years, the blue dog democrats etc.).

But I'm glad you brought it up. I watch Tim Pool everyday and like him a lot as a You-tube news analyst and he covered the Obama as a conservative shark jump and even considered doing my own thread on that.
