How far can we go in agreeing with each other

We do many threads in which we display our differences. I'd like this thread to be different. If someone posts something you disagree with, try to restate it as much as you can agree with in terms of your own theology. If there is an important distinction to be made, try to make it using the other person's theological terms, not your own. Avoid talking past each other.

For example:

1: Balrogs wear fuzzy bunny slippers.

2. If they do, they must be fireproof, or on fire.

1: I am not sure which it is.


Not: 2: Anyone who believes that is going straight to hell.

I would agree: We are saved by the grace of God as offered and demonstrated by Christ, through trusting that grace for ourselves and others, which enables us to show charity as Christ did.

THEREFORE I concluded that in order to be saved myself, I must view all of you who believe with only that standard.

I would hope you all measure thusly as well. I think you can sense in your heart the immediate benefit of that sight and measure.

It is freeing to say the least.

Yes, we are saved by God's sanctifying grace through faith in Jesus Christ for the purpose of doing good in this world so that others may be saved when they see the graces of God in the good works they experience from Christians who are faithful not only to God (which is necessary) but also to their word and to their promises.
