How does God love me?

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1)

Some say they know God loves them because God healed them. Others say because God heard their prayers and miraculously met their needs. But John says because he is called a child of God! This is the greatest evidence that God loves him.

I sit back and reflect on this confession. John must have gone through many persecutions. God delivered him each time. Many miracles God must have performed to prove that John's testimony was true. He must have seen many visions and heard many prorphecies.

But all these amount to nothing when compared to "God calls me his child." How pure is this confession! To John, "My child!" contains all the love of God for him, and "My Father!" all his love for God.

Father,
Tonight as I kneel and pray, call me my child. I want to hear from you and experience myself how great a love call my child is. As I remember the bible passages on Father-child relationship, give me understanding so that I, too, can confess, "How great is God's love that he calls me a child." I ask in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

I too am seeing how great this "title" is...to be called "Child of God"...I have a Father, who loves me...owns me, recognizes me, wants me...He melts my heart with Himself.

Great post! iktca...... How does God love me? well no matter how many times I mess up {sin} he's grace did abound. He never gives up. that's how I know God loves me. God always see more in you than you or others do. p.s..... That's what the father does for his children.Thanks for making me see, not with my eyes but with my heart.day2day

Wow! This topic has been one I have been thinking about lately. Sometimes through the struggles of life, it is hard to remember. Satan tends to hit us where we are weakest. So when I am down I hear that whisper, are you sure God loves you? But then I think about God calling me His child. And His love is unfailing and unconditional. The following song sums it up for me:

Those of you that have children-do you love them for what they do or who they are? This is the way our heavenly Father looks upon us!
