  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do you remember?

When talking to someone about my faith, I often find myself unable to recall a certain argument, fact, verse, etc. I remember reading about it, but can't really use it in conversation. E.g., if you catch me in the hall, I wouldn't be able to tell you where the Bible shows Jesus as God, or how the alleged discrepancies in the Bible are solved, or what's the evidence for non-corruption of the Bible, even though I've read about it. So, I'd like to know how can I read books and remember the information better? I'm not hopeless - in fact, I'm a law student and CAN study.

I find the same frustration as well, I can memorize large blocks of scripture, I think I have a fairly strong grip on a lot of Christian Doctrine, even some of that which relates directly to Apologetics. However I find the same struggle with trying to remember, (especially when I need to) but I have found over the years the more I let go of a witnessing situation and turn it over to God and lay down my own intellectual understanding as to how I should respond to this person, I find sometimes I am taken into unexpected directions during a witnessing situation. We must remember that God knows the heart of the person that we are witnessing to, we don't.

There are not any discrepancies in the Bible because God doesn't contradict Himself. There are, however, a lot of Scriptures that the meanings of which are misunderstood.

OP was referring to discrepancies that people think are there...
and was saying that she could not remember them when talking about her faith

It's like everything else: PRACTICE.

In our church, we have an evangelism team and we're constantly doing role playing.
