  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I never rate Lutheran first on these things. I tend to get odd results that change and Lutheran about third.

I don't like this one as much as another one I've seen. . .

Well, look at it make a fool of myself. . .

Lutheran is 2nd and Eastern Orthodox isn't as strange as other results that I've gotten!

Woohoo! Finally!!! Guess it would have helped if I paid close attention to the questions so I didn't accidentily scroll by one and miss exactly what the last one said!

Still, EO? Not at all. . .just not me. . .there's so much more to determine where one should be than just those questions.

I actually figured EO would be a little higher. I was very surprised at UCC being 3rd for me  .

I wish I knew how to bring stuff from somewhere else over here without having to retype. I don't think I'll ever get that figured out!

I clicked on the Order of Frequency to see how Lutherans ranked over all and this is the result:

#1 12.8%
Baptist (non-Calvinistic)/Plymouth Brethren/Fundamentalist
#2 11.5%
Pentecostal/Charismatic/Assemblies of God
#3 11.4%
Anabaptist (Mennonite/Quaker etc.)
#4 8.6%
Roman Catholic
#5 8.2%
Eastern Orthodox
#6 7.7%
Presbyterian/Reformed
#7 7.2%
Congregational/United Church of Christ
#8 7.1%
Baptist (Reformed/Particular/Calvinistic)
#9 6.8%
Anglican/Episcopal/Church of England
#10 6.7%
Methodist/Wesleyan/Nazarene
#11 5.9%
Lutheran
#12 4.2%
Church of Christ/Campbellite
#13 1.8%
Seventh-Day Adventist

No wonder we feel like others have a hard time with our salvation by grace and infant baptism. We knew that but this reminds us why.

I wonder what made me Roman Catholic before Anglican. Call me picky, but I don't think any of the Eucharist choices quite get it right.

I also find it interesting that there's a 17% difference between Lutheran and "the next best things." None of the gaps among the others is that wide. Seems to be a similar trend for many of us.

I changed I think three, I actually think I missed two the first time and misread one answer so this is with three changed and is probably pretty close.

Suddenly the board didn't like the graphs so I deleted them. This is probably closer than the first, though I would have thought Presbyterian should have been above Baptist. And I still think the Church of Christ is too high. Looking at it I think the church governance question made a difference. I didn't really like any of the choices but took congregational.

My results were as below. I find it interesting because although I attend a lutheran church, and mostly identify myself with the lutheran denomination, I consider myself as an enlightened christian, and I have little time for denominational differences. I was surprised to come out 100% as Anabaptist, mainly because I know little if anything about them.

I guess my upbringing in the lutheran church has formed a lot of my views (shown by coming in second place) but at the same time I don't hold with everything the lutheran church believes, but perhaps I weight some things as more important than others. I found myself answering Not sure a lot because none of the answers given fitted with my personal beliefs.

These are contradictory statements.

Well, that was rude! I tried to post my results and the board wouldn't let me. Something about sufficient posts. Ok, I'll type them in, since I'm a second class citizen here...

(100%) 1: Lutheran
(87%) 2: Anglican/Episcopal/Church
(85%) 3: Presbyterian/Reformed
(80%) 4: Eastern Orthodox
(75%) 5: Congregational/United Church of Christ

(54%) 11: Pentecostal/Charismatic/Assemblies of God
(29%) 12: Anabaptist (Mennonite/Quaker etc.)
(28%) 13: Seventh-Day Adventist

I still don't understand what all this means. Unless the percentages are how much I agree with them. That being the reasoning, nothing has changed from the Conference of Marbury.

Seajoy,

You select all the text that you want to post. Then, under your edit menu in your browser, select "copy" (sometimes the option is in the menu when you right click, too).

Then, come to CF, put your cursor in the box for typing a post, go to the edit menu, and select "paste."

You may have to remove graphics, though. I can't post more than 5 graphics in a post, that's a restriction on everybody unless they are site supporters. This might have been your problem, studeclunker.
