  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Sanctification means to be set apart.
The way I see myself as set apart is I confess Jesus as Lord.

This morning I was reading about Moses in Leviticus 8:35 and the comment at the bottom was something to the effect of Moses doing only what God told him to do and that Christ did only what His Father told him to do, and that most of the "great" servants of God did only what God told them.

As I thought about that, I thought immediately, hey wait a minute! Moses made alot of "mistakes". So even while he did do what God told him, he also messed up by taking things into his own hands.

Sometimes I think we get hung up on trying to be "good enough" and while I will agree we should all strive to be "good", it does NOT help us with our salvation. AND we cannot know what God created US for. Maybe our primary goal is to save one little person in our own family that no one else can reach, or maybe just being a light to everyone we meet. We cannot ALL be Moses or Peter or John. We need to be who Christ created US to be and that might require being something else other than "great" JMHO.

Proverbs tells us that "He loves him who pursues righteousness"

What does this mean to you?

The Law gives a lot of good ideas about what righteous behaviour is, and PS 119 gives some testimony about the results:

PS 1 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
PS 19 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
PS 37 31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

PS 119:
72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
174 I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight.
97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
113 I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

In short - 165 peace of mind, 142 a connection with the eternal, 113 don't we hate vain people?, 97 something to think about all day long, to purify the mind.

From near the end of Matthew

Matthew 25

37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Matthew 13

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 5
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Proverbs tells us that "He loves him who pursues righteousness"

What does this mean to you?

1. To not be overcome by evil.
2. To pursue Christlikeness and Fruit of the Spirit.
3. To protect myself from bad societal influences .
4. To pursue goodness., morality, and good ethics.
5. To escape from the lures of things competing for my attention that are not good and are thus, harmful.
6. To seek Gods nature, character, and person which represents the epitomie of righteousness.

Even now the axe is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. Matt 3.10
In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honour to your Father in heaven. Matt 5.16

Can I give some encouragement?

They don't have to be perfect deeds, just good ones as opposed to bad ones.

But - also just my opinion - CF in general is pretty shocking. The topic of good deeds, good behaviour, good thoughts good intentions and good words should be a major part of the conversation here, yet this thread just seems to be dead in the water.
