You're obviously into some sort of Paganism, or Neo-Paganism right?

Yup, Neopagan though I think of that more as an umbrella term. Officially, I am probably a Gardnerian Wiccan but I am kind of splitting hairs for the context of this thread.

Perhaps you are contemplating that Silent Mystery.

Possibly, but my contemplations often involve visualizations in the way of a spiritual exercise. Maybe "silent" isn't the right term?

Generally, they have involved seeing time/change/causality as a dynamic flow rather than as static snapshots. Examples are visualizing a wave crashing against a shore, or a flower blooming fast enough to see. I seek to mentally unite past, present, and future in a continuum, in particular as life is lived.

The point of the exercise is to become aware of the nature of change so that I may achieve a proper relationship with past, present, and future.

Obviously, 'facing God and acknowledging his presense, whatever else we happen to be doing' -- can be the hardest of work if we are going through the valley of the shadow of death.

I have been walking through that valley since 1997, perhaps earlier. It is, as you say, difficult to know that we are facing God there, but it is the closest place on earth to being with him, nonetheless. God walks that valley with us.

Just in case the emoticon disappears, let me write it: AMEN!

Your answer can be found right in the bible.

READ VERSE MATTHEW 6:5-15:

Prayer

“When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

===========================================================================================

Do you read a bible? If you don't read a bible, I suggest you go read a bible so that you can gain knowledge and understanding of how to live a Godly life according to the commandments and it's teachings. If you don't own a bible, I suggest you go get yourself a Holy Bible (the King James version or the New International version), the only inspired word of God. Start out by reading the New Testament. Get to know who Jesus Christ is first, and than you can go read the Old Testament. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work (2 Timothy 2:21).
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

How do I pray? Let me count the ways...just kidding..

Prayer can be anywhere, anytime.. but there are special daily prayers that as a Baha'i I recite.. Since these are daily prayers I'll describe them..

I wash my hands and face.. (ablutions)

Turn to the Holy Land where there's a place called "Bahji"..just a little north of Mount Carmel (Qiblih)

I follow the instructions for the long obligatory prayer and begin reciting it.

Long Obligatory Prayer

After the obligatory prayer I recite the Tablet of Ahmad

Following that I recite the Greatest Name ninety five times.

From my point of view, there is no better prayer than that which comes from the heart.Meaning: It's not a n already given prayer which you simply repeat over and over again.
I might also kneel and bow but only if I feel interialy humbled and I'm sure I'm not doing out of being proud or trying to prove to myself that I'm better.
And I also do not waste my prayer with useless praises to God. As Jesus said, he already knows what I want and how much I love and obey him.

Are you a solitary?

Nowadays I am, I was part of a mystery group of eight members in the past but it sort of just disbanded over time. Solitary practice of religion has always seemed better to me than group practice though I enjoy my tenure in said esoteric group.

Yeah, even the Beatles broke up. I guess, it's like that until you find a bond that is strong enough to keep people together. I still think the strongest bond is the bond of LOVE.
