  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Howdy. I have found that memorizing in groups of 3 (or close is ideal). I have been teaching this method since 1978 and everyone seems to do well.

Go through the verse 3 times, and add 3-4 words after each third time. Always include the reference

John 3:16
John 3:16
John 3:16

John 3:16 for God so
John 3:16 for God so
John 3:16 for God so

John 3:16 for God so loved the world
John 3:16 for God so loved the world
John 3:16 for God so loved the world

etc.

Then do that three times a day (morning, midday, evening). On the third day, you can just say the entire verse. You can actually start memorizing a second verse after three days, reviewing the first (three times), and adding the second according to the process above.

After six weeks you will have it memorized for life, with only an occasional refresher (about ever six weeks).

Blessings on your memorization.

I've asked this question before, but it was years ago and I can't find the thread. I'm trying to memorize a long one (the one in my signature) and I would like your tips on memorizing bible verses.

Thanks!

I like writing the verse out on an index card (which these are not very expensive) and place that index card where you are at the most. For example, if you drive alot, by your speedometer, for me it's reading so I use it as a bookmark. Everytime I open the book I'm reading, I read through the verse, and everytime I place the bookmark, I read through the verse. It's helpful in my eyes.
