How do you know when you are being rebuked and/or chasened by GOD? What does that exactly mean? I'm going through a hard time lately with my faith, or what is left of it...a lot of doubting and questioning. A few months ago I seemed to be at a "high point" in my life, when I felt closer than ever to GOD, but then I failed miserably due to a specific type of sin I thought Id never partake in. I have felt SO low every since, I can't find the words to really explain all the things I feel and all the negative things I believe about myself. Everything is confusion and doubt now.If I were really saved how could I do some of the things I do? I've been praying but this weight hasn't been lifted, I just want to feel close to HIM again.:cry::cry:

Good news....
Jesus never stops loving you even when you sin.

There is nothing you can do to make Christ love you any more
than He loves you right now at this moment.

Christ loves you absolutely and unconditionally.
Christ died for you when you were yet His enemy and
you did not choose to follow Him.

Now that you have chosen to follow Him He is committed to you as if
the two of you have entered into a marriage covenant.

Jesus will never break His vows to love you.

So you stumbled and made a mistake.

Do you really think that Christ is angry with you and
now is so displeased with you that His love for you has grown cold...NO WAY.

God's love is constant and never changes.
Do you think there is ever anything you could do to cause God to love
you any less than His absolute and perfect love that He has for you right now?

Here's you problem...
When you sin the Holy spirit will let you know gently and ...
Get this...it is very important...without condemning you that
you made a mistake. What we are suppose to do is stop
and ask the Father to forgive us and help us to grow in Christ and do better.

What happens usually happens is that we sin and stay in the sin and so we silence
the gentle promptings of the Holy spirit and the devil come along and begins
his accusations...
Look at you, you call yourself a Christian?
God is angry with you and you displease Him very much.
Why even try any more you messed up so bad you can't go back...
and on and on, the devil rides your back and drives you away from God.
Sound familure?

If Christ bore all your sins and took them away and forgave you
because you trust in Him and not your own goodness, why
would He now condemn and punish you.

The devil is the one who accuses you and blows the who thing
so out of balance that you feel his condemning spirit in your life.

The remedy is simple...
Run to God...

Father I was wrong, forgive me.

Then begin to thank Him for His forgiveness in Christ that is alway available.
Jesus said all sin can be forgive...ALL

Begin to confess the love God has for you and the devil will flee
and so will the condemnation.

Ephesians 4
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,(Chowder17)
even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ

Thank you Father for you great love for me in Christ.
Thank you father that you do not condemn me.
Thank you father that you so loved me that You sent
Your son to die personally for me so that my sin are forgiven
and I can come to you day or night no matter how good or bad I am, I can call you my Abba, Daddy, Father.

Run to God, He loves you and does not condemn you.

If you have asked God for forgiveness, then you are forgiven. It's simple as that. It took me awhile to learn that, but once I did, it made all the difference in the universe. I hope all the best for you!
Great point...

It is sad that so many Christians get discouraged when they
forget the amazing love, mercy and grace of God and try
to beat themselves over the head as if this will please God.

Lets take a child for instance...

As a parent you teach your child right from wrong.
Then sooner or later the child breaks the rules and fails.

Correction is admimistered and then the child is restored in love.

Does that parent ever withdraw their love and support
from their child? Does that parent ever abandon their child?

God is THE ULTIMATE FATHER and He knows how to correct us in love
not in displeasure or wrath.

God's gentle correction leads us back to Himself.

God never abandons us or condemns us.

He will let us walk away and get into trouble because we choose to
but He is always the solution to our problems and not the cause of them.

Romans 2:4
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience,
not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Thanks! Although, I think it is worth mentioning that there are times when parents do withdraw their love and support for their children. God gives us a good example for raising children, but not everyone lives up to that standard (or even tries).

Second, I think sometimes we might find ourselves in situations where we've gotten ourselves into a pickle, but God uses those times to teach us about ourselves and how we can avoid similar traps. He may not cause the issue per se, but She does cause does cause good to come out of those situations if the person is open to learning.

However, as Proverbs 26:11 says: "As the dog returns to its vomit, so the fool returns to their folly." That became one of my favorite verses after actually seeing a dog lick up their own spew. :p

All excellent points.

Parents do withdraw at times from older children when they choose
to go their own way but parents who know the love of God in
their own lives would never stop loving their children

God is the perfect one and He calls us to grow up and be like Him.

Will we be perfect in this life? ...no.

But can we have moments when we have choices before us
and with God's help we choose the right way...God's way, God's will?

One choice at a time we can do the will of God in our lives and
in those moments we can know that we have done the perfect will of
God for that moment in our lives.

Jesus taught us about the Father...

God is the author of His creation and He is the one who
defines Himself and defines us.

We do not define Him or ourselves, God is the creator and so He defines.

God existed before us and He has thought every thought or
idea before we ever existed. God defines the term and role of Father, not us.

So it is best to defer to His own defined role and not to try to redefine
who He Himself has defined Himself as.
After all He is the originator of the concepts of male and female.

It is no mistake that God calls Himself a Father.

God originated that roll that He fills so completely.

Jesus confirmed that role of God as Father throughout His teachings.

So my dear you know why I brought this up, not to argue but
so that you can see that God was a Father ever before He made
human beings, so we here on earth are a reflection of what existed before us.

So who are we to redefine God out of our need to be politically
correct or because we do not want to offend someone
when God has already clearly defined Himself and us.

Luke 11

The Model Prayer

1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place,
when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him,
“Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.”

I am going to follow Jesus as closely as I can and
not follow people trying to be politically correct.

I know you have a good heart and want to follow Christ
so listen to Him and beware of those who change His words to
suit their own agendas....

God loves you and so do I so that isn't the issue here,
what is at stake here is...
who are you going to believe and
who are you going to please....

Jesus trumps all others....
