I answered that question in a similar thread like this

May I also suggest that you check out http://www.newadvent.org/summa/100203.htm it is St. Thomas Aquinas's 5 proofs for God.
1. all things that move have been set in motion by another yet they can't set something in motion unless they are in motion themselves thus something outside time must have moved something first.
2. All things with in time must be created by something in order to exist thus something must not have been created this is God
3. all things in Nature can both exist and not exist yet if something can not exist it has not existed. Yet nothing can make it self exist as stated in 2 so something must not be able to not exist this is God.
4. If we say something is more true than something else we are comparing it to and absolute truth. If we say something is more beautiful than something we are comparing them to the most beautiful and saying one is closer etc. By speaking the way we do we have an intuitive knowledge of this perfect reality. This perfect reality is God
5. the fifth is that there is a logic to the way the world is ordered with means that an intelligent mind must govern it. That Mind is God.

Although I admit these ideas do fall through if Time or space are infinite Yet this is something modern scientists deny (granted some times they use terms like infinite density but this really means more along the lines of containing all the finite which is not truly infinity. And in my mind is created under the assumption that God doesn’t exist, an assumption which they have less proof of because one can’t prove something’s nonexistence because their opponents can simply say that they haven’t found it.) So if such a God exists then one of two things must be true 1. he wants us to know him 2. he doesn't. If 2 is true then oh well we're screwed so there is no point, life has no meaning except self betterment. This in my mind is the true leap of faith one of the two must be true and it does require faith to believe the first. If 1 then there are two other possibilities 1. He has revealed himself 2. he has not yet done so. If 2 is true I know of only one such religion that confesses the idea of the above God and that there is more revelation to come and that is Judaism. If 1 then there is only one religion that confesses that the complete revelation of God has come to earth and that it has been protected. If it has not been protected then you can't trust it and you are no better off than if the first number 2 is true and in my mind if the revelation has been corrupted then 2 is true even if revelation was given because A God who would want us to know him would protect his attempt to let us know him. That only religion I speak of is Christianity (particularly certain groups within Christianity). Islam and Mormonism declare complete revelation that has been protected but they also say that the complete revelation was given in the past and was corrupted so you have no reason to think they didn't corrupt it again. The JW's beliefs change with every new issue of their magazine so what I said in another post about the eternal unchanging God is impossible with them. Buddhism doesn't hold any real belief in a deity, Pagans have no such concept of the God St. Thomas talks of; Hindu's do have the idea that could sort of fit St. Thomas's proofs but they have no real source of authority in interpreting their revelation. and most other religions stem form Islam except maybe Zoroastrians which have more of a dualistic Idea and I must say I'm not to familiar with but I think that it contradicts St. Thomas's proofs. So really you only need to trust two things, one that Truth (for God is Truth) wants to be known and two He has allowed Himself to be known.

When you take that step of faith, and receive Yeshua as Lord of your life, you receive the Holy Spirit, who leads to all truth. Then you know that you know.

"I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist" is a nice little book that gives a logical basis for 1) there's a God and 2) He is the God as presented in the Bible.

(It also gives the basis for accepting Christ as well.)

Why i believe there is a God:

1. I've seen God answer my prayers and the prayers of my parents in such amazing ways. It would be impossible to pass it off as coincidence.

2. Prophecies made by members of my church which were fulfilled.

3. The interpretation of tounges. Someone speaks in tounges and 2 other people listen. The 2 others write down the interpretation they are given from God and compare them. The fact that they match is proof of the Holy Spirit (For all those would-be arguers - please note that i do not believe everyone who has the Holy Spirit in them must speak in tounges)

4. The gift of healing - proof again of the Holy Spirit living within us.

5. The change in a person's life when they become a Christian is proof to me that Christianity is more than a religion

6. We can see God in creation

Walk in the teachings of Yahushua and you will know that he is sent from Yahuhveh, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Pray for the Holy Spirit, the counselor to guide you into the truth. Without the spirit of Yah, the knowledge of Yah will not prevail. Humble yourself and deny yourself. Seek Yahushua with all your heart.

I am completely knackered, and am off to bed in a second (bit ill you see) so I won´t give a long answer. For me, because of a few things I have encountered, the answer to your question is;

I am alive, and not dead.

Because I read too much…Ok now the serious answer.

Well you right I don’t know there is a God and if God does exist I can’t physically prove to you, or even myself that it is the God of the Bible. It is a personal experience, and revelation which you must really want to know to find. Jesus speaks of seeking and finding. “seek and you shall find” many people want to twist and contort this statement to mean and imply all sorts things. However that statement is taking about a broad theological statement about the nature of God. When you look at any major religious text you will find that same kind of statement as well which is kind of neat, but I digress. It is a huge mistake to sit down and try to become a Christian, you need to seek Truth (yes the capital T is important), you need to seek that Truth in every aspect of your life, and in all your actions. God is a confidant God and is not afraid to revel all the mysteries that he/she as for you when you are seeking him/her. Its important to seek with an open mind and heart. Trying to understand others answers is a waste of time, trying to find a dogma that makes you happy is equally a waste of time. Its important to be true to your self and true about your ambitions with God/Budha/The Great Sprit, or whatever he/she is calling him/herself these days. When you have gotten to that point it will be like the sky opening that the answers will not only be reviled to you but you will have a good surface level understand about God, moreover you will hunger to know more and more.

That is about as close as I’ll ever get to preaching ya’ll so you might want to cut, paste and save that to your hard drives.

For me, here's one of the reasons.

The Bible tells me so,
and I believe in the Bible.

The Truth of the Word of God tells us that God "hangeth the earth upon nothing" (Job 26:7).
How did Job know that the earth hung in space before the age of modern astronomy and space travel? The Holy Spirit told him.

The scientists of Isaiah's day didn't know tge topography og the earth, but Isaiah said, "It is [God] tht sitteth upon the circle of the earth" (Isaiah 40:22). The word for "circle" here means a globe or sphere. How did Isaiah know that God sat upon the circle of the earth? By divine inspiration.

The Bible is one book, yet it is also made up of 66 books. There are 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament.

God's Word was written by at least 40 different authors over a period of about 1,600 years.

The Bible was written in about 13 different countries and on three different continents.

The Bible was written in at least three different languages by people from all kinds of professions: shephers, kings, soldiers, princes, priests, fishermen, scholars, historians, businessmen, and common laborers.

The way I see it, after looking at the above facts, the only way the Bible could be in perfect unity is if it came from God Himself

Have you ever really sought out the facts about the scriptures or considered that so many of the things written of in the Bible have come to pass in history? It is important to find out the reason we have life, as it is a valuable gift.
Does the fact that you are a conscious being raise any questions about why you are here? See if the Bible pulls any punches about the true condition of mankind. It portrays mankind perfectly as the sinful, proud, hardhearted, and dying race of beings we are. It isn't just a pretty book of axioms and sayings, but tells the full story of blood from one end to the other.
The devil has spead enough lies to deceive many, but really, is all this an accident? How many accidents does it take to make one hand of a human being? It looks to me that something much more simple would be accidently appearing everywhere. Perhaps a Cadillac.....all the elements are there for it to exist, so why are there not more of them appearing without any help from us? We are so farther in complexity, yet thought to have come about by accident??
The Bible says that all people know that there is God at some time in their lives but they trade that truth in for lies if they decide they do not want to know God and His laws. They become children of disobedience and find it easier to just plain deny Him as not being there so that they can pretend to have a clear conscience. The Bible says that we can sear that conscience as if with a coal of fire, and lose the ability to have a conscience over what is right and wrong. I can sure see it in today's society, and it has been so throughout history - with men able to kill and murder others with little or no conscience. Well, if we don't like God's rules for life and only obey our own, then it is easier to just prove to ourselves the lies that other children of disobedience to the truth join together and come up with. It is our own choices and responsibility to prove out and work out our own salvation with fearful respect of our wonderful Creator who has given us a chance to have eternal life once again since the fall of mankind into sin and death.
See where the focus of the world is at today? The Middle East is where it all began according to the Bible, and the Bible also states that it will all conclude there, around Jerusalem - first with the physical kingdom of God, and then with the final judgment and destruction this world for the new heavens and earth, and those who have joined in with God, as brothers and sisters to Jesus, wll more than likely help build.

Romans 1:19 ¶ For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts.
20 From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.
21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused.
22 Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead.

God has proven to me He is real. I'm only 17 years old and I 100% sure Jesus is alive and saves!!! Everyday I see miracles that tell me God is real. To know God you have to have a personal encounter with Him once you meet him you'll completly fall in love!. There have been alot of things that I stuggled with that I could beat on my own. As much as I tried I still failed. Now I look at myself and I'm amazed at what God has done in my life and all I had to do was trust him and have faith. I'm perfect but I'm a totally different person. How do I know the Bible it true? Everything that is ever said in it has come true or will come true. The Bible has never lied, I know this from my expirience and the expirience of others.

I agree it takes more faith to be an Atheist.

Years ago I was a weak Christian [or maybe I was never a Christian to begin with] when I turned to science to find the meaning of life. I read Einstein, Bohm, Bohr, Schroedinger, and others looking for truth. In the end science brought me back to God. The way the universe works according to quantum physics would certainly call for a creator. The odds of having all the right ratio of elements to create the universe are something like a trillion to one. So to believe the universe to be an accident would require a much, much greater leap of faith than believing in God. Which God is a much harder question to answer scientifically. It requires faith and an open heart.

God Bless

I would love to know that God exists,

but none of the things anyone speaks of has ever happened to me.

I do not feel God's presence.

He hasn't spoken to me.

The world is great and amazing, far too amazing for me to be able to understand whether it needs a creator or not.

And if such wonder required design (and if that is taken for the premise of the existence of God) then where did the amazing and Great God come from? He must have required design. (er...I know that doesn't have an answer btw)
